what happened to that new news channel I heard about?
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 05:12 AM by Syrinx
I remember seeing posts a couple of years ago about a new start-up in the television news business that was going to bring us unbiased, in-depth news coverage, from around the country and around the globe.

No, it wasn't Al Gore's Current. I thought at first that Current was going to be something like that, but I've got to say that Current has greatly disappointed me. There are things I like about it, and some of their cartoons are hilarious. But it is not what I thought it was going to become. It's just a youth-oriented mish-mash of vaguely liberal home videos, presided over by MTV-style VJ's, adorned with flashy gimmicks. That's not what I'm talking about.

Does anyone remember the channel I'm talking about. I don't remember the name of it. But I'm certain I saw posts here about it, unless I dreamed the whole thing.

And I suppose that is entirely possible. :D

9. I Remember What You Were Refering To...
The mind goes blank...this was following the '04 elections and the start-up was looking for seed money to get going. I guess it never quite got rooted. Acutually over the past couple years, I've seen several proposals for radio, internet and television operations, but you need someone with extremely deep pockets to make something like this go...and, sadly, Progressive and liberals tend to be very independent people...trying to get them to work collectively in these matters are like herding cats.

Cheers...

10. Right. Money is usually the problem with liberal news.
IMHO, most liberals would rather see the MSM straighten itself out rather than creating a whole new channel just for liberals.

11. It's Doing The "Dirty Work"
I've worked with many very creative people over the years...lots of talent in creating entertaining programs, but with zero business knowledge...some even have developed a healthy dislike for anything dealing with money. There's another faction that is already counting the money before it comes in...big plans and ideas looking at short-term gains over long-term survival. It's rare to find someone who understands the business and creative sides and how to make them work cooperatively.

Cheers...

13. I Try To Remain An Optimist...
I've had a unique position to see many things from the inside and what I'm seeing these days aren't too pretty, but this is where opportunity breeds. I definitely see different days ahead for our media...radio and TV...these mediums converge with the internet and creates a broader platform for people to communicate with. We've seen what people power has done via the netroots on the internet, maybe that can also happen for radio and television.

Cheers...
