PBS Frontline: "The War Briefing" on Afghanistan. How the US invasion made everything worse
The documentary takes no stand on the US invasion, and presents the information it provides within the officially sanctioned storyline of "us good guys" versus "those savage evildoers." It cutely manages to go through a brief history of the formation of the Al Qaeda and the Taliban with no mention of the role of the CIA and the murderous idiots Brzezinski and Kissinger, so in some respects it is just another bit of pro-imperialist propaganda designed to demonize "the other" and exonerate the invaders.

But that being said, it provides a good examination of the complex nature of the dangerously destructive mess that the invasion has created, and how the reactionary religious crazies that were fostered, financed and organized by the much earlier intervention have been strengthened by this invasion of Afghanistan and the attempt at military domination. Anyone who is curious can learn something. And any who buy that vicious nonsense that sending more killers and more bombs and more white phosphorous will do any "good," well, you should also watch.

You can watch online at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warbriefing/
