If the Phillies win tonight, weather permitting, is this the last game? If so, that will get more eyeballs in PA for Obama's broadcast tomorrow, right?

This Red Sox fan says, GO PHILLIES! We are rooting for you over here in Honolulu. Especially our Maui boy Victorino!

1. I just spoke with my cousin in Philadelphia
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 05:39 PM by Tangerine LaBamba
He said it's cold and windy, with a chance of snow flurries later. The winds are really bad, he said.

But, damn, it's gonna be in the low forties, high thirties!

On edit - I just read this in the NY Times online:

"And in the end, Major League Baseball decided at noon to delay resumption of the game one more day, meaning Game 5 will remain tied 2-2 until Wednesday night, when play is now scheduled to resume, presumably without any rain coming down."

2. I sure hope so!
They only have three innings to finish up from the game yesterday that was postponed, sure hope the Phillies win!

If they (god forbid) don't, we will have another world series game stepping on Obama's time.

4. The question is, will it still be cold tomorrow?

Florida teams (the NFL Yucs in particular) are notoriously bad when the temperature is below 40 degrees at kickoff, or first pitch. :-)

edit: spelling

6. Not as cold, no.
These bad winds we're having (I'm in VA, where we're having 45 mph gusts!) are supposed to die down around 2 am tomorrow. The weather for Philadelphila tomorrow is going to be milder, still chilly, in the mid-forties during the day, down to around forty by 8 pm. But no wind and no rain.

And that's completely gonna screw with Obama's speech, dammit.

3. Game Was Postponed Until Wednesday
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 05:43 PM by DarthDem
No effort even made to play tonight for some reason. I am in "Center City" (aka downtown) Philadelphia right now, about 7-10 miles from the stadium, and it's drizzling lightly.

5. The spirit of Busholini has invaded the national pastime

Why wasn't the game called while the Phillies were still ahead? Weeellll...

This World Series is unsalvageable. It is a disaster borne of people who think cowbells and haircuts make them fans, owners who are so greedy that they accept late-October baseball and late-evening start times, and a commissioner who unilaterally changes a rule while he's carrying the book in his left hand....

Unilaterally changing a rule at the drop of a hat (or cap) is more commonly associated with the former owner of the Texas Rangers, not the Milwaukee Brewers. :P

edit: it would suck majorly if these shenanigans were to keep Victorino from becoming the first Hawai'i player to win a Series since Lenn Sakata with the Orioles -- 25 years ago. (Benny Agbayani got there with the 2000 Mets, who proceeded to go down in flames to "DU's Team", the New York Yankees. :sarcasm: )
