Another teenage girl abandoned at Neb. hospital
OMAHA, Neb. – State officials say a 15-year-old girl left at an Omaha hospital is the 21st child abandoned under Nebraska's unique safe-haven law.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services' Todd Landry says the girl from Douglas County, Neb., was left Monday evening at Creighton University Medical Center.

*snip*

Most state lawmakers have agreed to amend the law when the Legislature reconvenes in January so that it applies only to infants up to 3 days old.

1. Teenagers do seem to make
such attractive targets for being abandoned by their parents.

2. So do 21 year olds.
Especially when they have their own kids.

I'm poorer now than when she was under my roof.

But I love her and the grandson and wouldn't abandon them. It's hard for me to fathom these people.

3. So, they're going to go from NO age limits to 3 days old? Geez, no middle ground there.

Part of me worries about what will happen to all these older kids and teens who would have been dropped off.
