Question about Ted Stevens
Let's hope this question is irrelevant by the evening of Nov 4th

Ted Stevens is now a convicted Felon.

As a convicted Felon Ted Stevens cannot vote for himself.

IF Stevens is re-elected and the Senate is FORCED to take him back.....

What restrictions in his duties, if any, will he have because he is a felon?

Can a Convected felon be give National Security Clearances?

Etc....etc....etc

1. I think he's toast.
If you can't vote as a felon, how can you be a public official? It doesn't seem right.

3. Is it true that convicted felons cannot vote in ALL states?
I have read that in some states they can only not vote during incarcerration, but I have never seen in substantiated one way or another. In Ohio, convicted felons cannot vote.

2. If elected
He can serve in the senate...They have no rule or law to stop a convicted felon from serving, they can expel him in which case Alaska would have to replace him...Not sure how that happens , some states the governor names a replacement but I think Alaska has to hold an election to do so...Something about a previous governor replacing himself with his daughter when he won the election.

4. The question is: Can a convicted Felon get National Security Clearance
Even if he is a Senator?

If he cannot - how the hell can he do his job?

5. He can
He can stay in the senate if they will let him, there are no rules or laws saying that a convicted felon cannot serve in the senate...The senate can expel him, that is the choice they have....Jeeez most of them are felons even if unconvicted...Lot of repugs would welcome him as a brother who just passed an initiation ritual of some sort..

Republicans Speak on the Stevens Conviction.
http://mudflats.wordpress.com/2008/10/27/republicans-speak-on-the-stevens-conviction/

“We need to continue to support Sen. Stevens. We need to vote for him because a vote for him is a vote for a conservative candidate, a Republican who best represents the interests and beliefs of Alaskans. … We don’t know what happens in the future. But if you don’t want Mark Begich, you vote for Ted Stevens.” - McHugh Pierre, spokesman for the Alaska Republican Party.

You heard it here, kids. The Alaskan Republican Party has just reaffirmed their endorsement of, and told you to vote for A CONVICTED FELON! You show ‘em Alaska Republicans! Hold your head high, walk in to the voting booth with the blessing of your political party, fill in that little oval, and vote with impunity for A CONVICTED FELON! Drive home with a satisfied smile, kiss your spouse, and say, “What did you do today, Honey? I voted for A CONVICTED FELON!“ Proudly call your friends and relatives out of state, and tell them how you, and all your buddies in the Republican party, puffed out your chests, and proudly hitched your wagon to the star of an 84-year old CONVICTED FELON! Maybe you should call your local party headquarters and suggest a fundraiser…you could do t-shirts, and hats that say, “I VOTED FOR A CONVICTED FELON!”

Then, put your feet up, and watch the national news, and watch a couple political talk shows, and wonder to yourself, “How did Alaska become a laughing stock?”

8. Looks bad
for Alaskans if you believe that line of drivel, "We need to vote for him because a vote for him is a vote for a conservative candidate, a Republican who best represents the interests and beliefs of Alaskans." I that is true then Alaskans believe that cheating and lying are good... Doesn't seem to say much for Alaskan morals does it...Of course I know better and if someone from my state said that about the people here I am sure it would piss me off along with quite a few others.
