CRUCIAL first step to fight Fox News & Limbaugh under Obama administration
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 02:10 AM by Bippity Boo
During the Bush administration, the decision was made at some level to switch the only news outlet that our Armed Forces overseas receive from CNN to Fox News. Similarly, the last I heard, the only political radio opinion show on Armed Forces Radio is Rush Limbaugh.

These decisions need to be reversed. I am not suggesting Dems duplicate the GOP disgusting tactics and replace Limbaugh with Air America and Fox News with MSNBC. Simply remove the blatant GOP propaganda outlets from Armed Forces broadcasting. If the GOP had the power to make this happen, the Dems have the power to reverse it.

We need to make this happen and stop the GOP brainwashing of our troops ASAP.

Here is a video of Obama expressing his awareness of this situation: http://vodpod.com/watch/896583-obama-wonders-why-fox-news-is-on-armed-forces-tv

1. My favorite host
Ed Schultz is broadcast on AFN. But he is certainly out numbered.

2. I think I remember when Ed fought to get on there...
The basic deal, especially with Fox News: corporate welfare. Fox gets an audience on the taxpayer dime and gets to build "brand loyalty" with young people (vulnerable due to being overseas, lonely and often in harm's way) at the expense of every American who pays taxes.

3. actually
AFN News cycles all the major news stations...

NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, & CNN
AFN radio does have Limbaugh, but it also has Ed Schultz (in a better timeslot too!)... At least in Japan...

And Fox was part of AFN news even before Bush was in office, I remember watching Fox and CBS news during the 2000 election when I was at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait

you should check your information in the future.

9. They should get PBS and NPR
And we must fiercely ensure that those outlets remain non-partisan.
