What Is Obama's Plan To Speed Hurricane Katrina Rebuilding Efforts?
I find it ridiculous that this is even a topic more than 3 years after Katrina struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast and New Orleans. However, both Obama and McSame have been completely silent on this issue. I understand that we're many news cycles removed from Katrina, but the people living in the areas hit the hardest by Katrina are anything but removed from it. Does anyone have a link to any comprehensive plan that Obama or the coming Democratic majority in both houses of Congress has put forth to deal with one of our great national shames? I think it's an issue that we need to hold the feet of Congress & Obama to the fire on after they take office. Our fellow citizens have waited entirely too long for meaningful assistance. We were able to find $1 trillion for Wall Street, but we can't find $100 billion for rebuilding after Katrina? It is way past time to right this wrong.

Appointing somebody that is competent to run the agency. Maybe even somebody that's REALLY good at doing that kind of stuff.

Just a guess

Edit to add: More competent than I am at the typing.

2. Do something
Because just doing something to help the recovery is better than what the * Administration did.

3. Would Like To See
FEMA it's own agency again. Won't get started on the Homeland Fascist Security other than to say FEMA would benefit trermendously from being (and to important not to be) a cabinet level agency.

4. He has a five-page fact sheet
albeit well hidden in the "Additional Issues" section of his site. (Throw "Additional Issues" into the hopper for the title of the blog I shall start should I return to NOLA some day.)

http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/issues/additional/Obama_FactSheet_Katrina.pdf

Brief description:

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/additional/#katrina

As president, Barack Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Joe Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur.

Barack Obama swiftly responded to Hurricane Katrina. Citing the Bush administration's "unconscionable ineptitude" in responding to Hurricane Katrina, Obama introduced legislation requiring disaster planners to take into account the specific needs of low-income hurricane victims. Obama visited thousands of Hurricane survivors in the Houston Convention Center and later took three more trips to the region. He worked with members of the Congressional Black Caucus to introduce legislation to address the immediate income, employment, business and housing needs of Gulf Coast communities.

As president, Barack Obama will partner with the people of the Gulf Coast to rebuild now, stronger than ever.

Does McCain't/Failin' have a five-page fact sheet on the Federal Flood? No? How about five sentences?

5. Just as I suspected...
...a search for "Katrina" on mcloser2008.com turns up a bunch of news articles, but no plan. None. Zip. Nada. :eyes:
