McCain economics adviser Carly Fiorina: Let the US auto industry die
http://www.americablog.com/2008/10/mccain-economics-adviser-carly-fiorina.html

And she probably wonders why she was banished to a secret undisclosed location after her last eruption. What an idiotic thing to say a week before the election. But this is way Republicans thinks. Let the US auto industry go bankrupt in order to pay homage to the all-knowing almighty "market."

From Reuters:

The U.S. government can assist automakers but cannot save them and any aid should be limited so taxpayers do not become ensnared in a long-term investment in the embattled industry, an economic adviser to Republican presidential candidate John McCain said on Monday.

"I don't think the government can rescue the industry," Carly Fiorina, former chief executive of Hewlett-Packard Corp, told Reuters at an event in suburban Detroit.

"Whatever the government does, it should not take away the fundamentals of risk-taking. Sometimes it leads to rewards and sometimes consequences, downside," she said. "In other words, the auto industry cannot be saved from its own bad bets."

Oops, they did it again.

Or just trying to shed "light" on a 95% "black" city?

3. Kind of like the CEO Industry, right Carly?
Oh wait, there IS no downside to THAT. You can do just as shitty of a job as you want and STILL walk away with three lotteries.

I mean . . . Americans are STILL undecided? WHY? If 8 years of Bewsh and assholes like this haven't cured your stupid, then you might as well get it over with and play on the highway, because functioning and walking upright just isn't your thing, apparently . . .

4. I would think that some sort of transportation corporation would be good to have.
Imagine if the world totally quits dealing with us. It is bizarre to think that someone in the government would think that no auto corporation would be a good thing. Who knew?

28. I had to sit and listen to this for an hour in '04:
http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/execteam/speeches/fiorina/caltech04.html
She blithered about the Middle Ages and made no points: it was like some horrible, Burroughsian ramble.
Then she rode off on a 6-foot roach.

14. I agree completely.
Let them fail.
Along with all these ancillary industries:

The steel industry.
Aluminum mills.
Tire companies.
Glass makers.
Instrument and electronic providers.
Fabric mills.
Automated CAD/CAM makers.
Machine tool industry.
Transporters of finished product, truck and rail.
Transporters of raw materials, truck and rail.
Foundry service providers.
Innumerate machine shop parts makers.
Contracted sub-assemblers.
Paint and coating suppliers...

I could make this list ten feet long.

That woman is not sane. She has absolutely no clue of the consequences.

We would crash the entire economy of this nation to a point where it would never be able to recover.
It would make the current disaster look like a 'minor market correction'.

Republics can only be successful when they lie regularly. Evidently, she didn't get that memo. Back to Siberia she goes!

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.

19. Let Toyota and Honda buy the US automakers. They've demonstrated good business saavy
IF there is yet another bailout of the car companies, and I think that is likely, we must DEMAND 100% increase in CAFE standards, flex fuel vehicles, electric vehicles. Last time we bailed out Chrysler we got a company impervious/willfully ignorant to the future of the global auto market.

David Packard is still rolling in his grave. HP still have not recovered from the Compaq merger. Now they have 2 major commodity businesses and little innovation.
