couldn't believe how many different ads I saw Smith was running on TV (and radio)...all the ads pretending like Smith was a liberal, a friend to the working man or something like that....I told my friend this guy (Gordon Smith) is going to win....And my friend said "no way", everyone here in Oregon knows what a rich, elitist, lying two-faced republican asshole Smith is, and that Smith always voted with Bush like he was a Bush machine robot.

7. Did you see the "Merkley is pro-rape" commercials?
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 03:17 PM by Bornaginhooligan
I haven't seen those for a few weeks now.

9. Sorry, Now I see what you mean, my friend told me about that Smith ad
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 03:36 PM by GreenTea
as I mentioned, all I saw were Smith ads flooding the airwaves, not a single Merkley ad....Maybe, I was told, Smith's ads go over in Springfield, but NOT in Eugene or Portland (or Covallis).

12. Ah, just referring to the primary...
He beat Novick who made pirate jokes about himself. He was a guy short in stature with a hook instead of a hand (born with disabilities). Personally I liked Novick a bit more, but either will do a much better job.

13. I changed parties so that I could vote for Steve Novick
in the primary. I love his humor and the fire in his belly. After the primary, I wrote him an email saying how much he is needed in the senate. He wrote back a sweet reply.

Tomorrow I plan to drop off my Paper ballot w/Jeff Merkley's oval filled in.

NO. MORE. GORDO!

14. I liked Novick a lot, too. I went back and forth but ultimately went w/ Merkley
because I thought that Merkley might have a better chance than Novick to unseat Gordo, even though if I were voting only on my preference I would have voted for Novick.

4. Outstanding
Looks like Gordon's "I'm really a Democrat" pose has finally worn out its usefulness.

I've already voted for Merkley, and I hope that Mr. Smith can get to his comfortable retirement in a DC suburb much sooner rather than later.

Oh, and Avel Gordly and Elizabeth Furse? Turn in your credentials on your way out the door. Neither one of you is particularly welcome in the Democratic party anymore. Buh-bye.

8. Hey, it BIG time! It's a US Senate race, a rich republican who thought had a sure win to re-election
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 03:37 PM by GreenTea
is now 7 points back in the polls - This is news completely unexpected with as much of his own money as the wealth Smith has using to buy his re-election...."OMG" and I'm from California not Oregon...But it doesn't matter what state we're from does it, all United States Senate races still affect all of us!

Just like republican US Senator Ted Stevens from a small populous state like Alaska, out of the mainland.....being found guilt of taking bribes maybe worthy of an "OMG" if one chooses to use it....I never do, but to each his own, right?

11. Why not?
Up until recently it's been a very tight race.
