Okay, maybe I'm being paranoid...
I have an Obama lawn sign and an Obama/Biden sign in my front window.

I heard a car a couple of minutes ago and looked out my window to see who it was. It was a DHL delivery van in my driveway, which I was expecting today because I'd ordered a new AT&T cell phone. What I saw next shocked me - the guy got out of the van, took the box and pitched it as hard as he could 30 feet onto my porch, where it landed with a loud crash. Then he got back into his van and pulled away.

I've had a lot of things delivered over the years, and I've never seen any delivery company throw a box from my driveway to my front door. And he did it in such a violent way that I'm still stunned. WHen I opened the box, I found that it hit my porch so hard the phone was out of the slot intended for it and was sitting on top of the charger. I haven't tested it yet but it looks okay.

Needless to say, I've already written DHL with my tracking number to report the way my package was handled. And I'm now going to call AT&T and let them know how DHL is delivering their packages.

The whole thing was so bizarre that I wonder if the driver wasn't pissed off at my signs. McCain/Palin have done nothing but whip up anger amongst the right wing and this guy sure seemed angry. Now I am, too.

1. probably true, but impossible to prove
you can get him reprimanded, but you can never prove it was because of the signs.

I would leave that part out when complaining about him.

2. Not paranoid.
But, the DHL that comes here is equally rough. The sign probably did set him off, though!

4. I had a DHL driver pull up to my house a few years back
and literally heave the package at my garage door. It was a training notebook and it was destroyed.

It's not the sign. It's the fact that DHL drivers are independent contractors.

5. Absolutely unprofessional and uncalled for.
You should CALL DHL and let them know immediately. Do not delay.

I don't know where you live, but remember: One of the biggest contributors to the spread of this sort of thing has been people who drive for a living or commute being trapped in their cars with naught but a radio and the squawking heads. It's a form of programming.

These delivery guys(except for UPS) are independent contractors and generally, they are treated like shit by the delivery companies. The squawking heads give them lots of people to blame for their situation, all of them wrong.

7. I live in eastern Kansas
A suburb of the Kansas City metro.

I didn't know DHL uses independent contractors - I guess they do that to avoid paying them any benefits.

I am going to call them. I've just never seen a packaged handled this way.

6. I wouldn't doubt your conclusion. My daughter, in the Twin Cities, has a Obama
bumper sticker and has gotten flicked off on the interstate. Drivers have pointed to her sticker and honk and flick her off! Amazes me. I wonder what will happen when mcsame loses in a landslide?

8. He's probably pissed because DHL treats him like shit because he's an independent contractor.
He could be pissed at himself for not standing up for himself too, but I doubt it.

9. Complaining is essential
so you're doing everything right. They need to know they have an angry, careless employee and it doesn't matter what he blames his anger on.

How was the phone, though?

10. Complain away -
It probably won't do any good.

I had a time-sensitive packages shipped through DHL (not my choice) from California. When it had not arrived at around twice the estimated length of time for delivery I called to find out what had happened. They had it marked and picked up (then, about a week earlier), but had no further information about where it might be in its journey. I asked them where the next anticipated check-in might be - they either had no clue, or were instructed not to reveal the information. They refused to tell me which it was (don't know or against policy to tell me). After going through several supervisors, I was unable to get any information about of them.

It did eventually get here. Unfortunately, it was a formal dress for my daughter which I had ordered early enough for her to be able to try it on, return it if it didn't look as good on her as it did in the catalog, and order a replacement before the event. When it arrived, wasn't as attractive as we expected, and it was WAY too late to order a replacement.

Hurling packages would seem to me to be par for the course with these guys. If I have any options other than DHL, DHL will not be delivering any packages to me or for me.

12. Isn't kind of a leap
To assume he's a McCain voter? What if he just has a shitty attitude about working for DHL?
