& that the I'm-on-board-with-McLame newsreader was following orders when she asked the question. It's part of the Rethugs'
projection technique: "whatever scumbag policy is working against the little guys -- the voters, whose votes they need to get elected -- should be blamed on the other candidate; after all, the voters are ignorant & don't know what's going on, so we'll get away with it."
So I particularly liked this one (it was written in one huge paragraph, but I'm taking the liberty of separating it into several paragraphs to make it more readable  ):
The things that kills me about this red scare argument is that people don't even know what communism and socialism stands for. Socialism involves nationalizing private industries--i.e. the financial sector. Well, the last time I checked, a Republican administration has partially nationalized the financial sector with the backing of both Democrats and Republicans. I have yet to hear John McCain come forward to criticize this action, decrying socialism--instead he has said it is ok because it is a national emergency.
And look at his complete dishonesty about taxes. Back when he was being "maverick" McCain, he was caught on tape saying that the wealthiest Americans could afford to pay a little more in taxes, and that this wasn't socialism. He votes against Bush's tax cuts up until 2006--calling them unconscionable, but now that he wants to appeal to his base, he tries to make anyone who talks about middle class tax cuts a socialist? Give me a break.
And I don't know if the dummy checked the way our tax code has been organized, but we are already spreading the wealth around. While 40% of people don't pay certain taxes, people making over $102,000 don't pay social security taxes but still benefit from the system.
So let's please stop this B.S.
