THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. WE WERE ALL EXPECTING THIS. THEY ARE TRYING TO STEAL THE ELECTION.

By the way, BOTH ATTACKS KILLED INNOCENT CIVILIANS.

4. I fully expect the same action on the Iranian border this week, to provoke a
military response.....

5. Got to stir up some hostility in the world.
Only thing the GOP has to claim is security. A nice little skirmish could tip the balance. What do you bet that Iran is next. Fire on a few gun boats or some air space drama. Standard GOP play book.

7. They aren't trying to steal the election!
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 08:38 PM by YellowRubberDuckie
They don't want to win, and this is an obvious ploy to lose. Everyone is sick of Iraq, and if someone isn't, that person is a moron. Anyone who is paying attention knows that we don't have the manpower nor the money to continue this bullshit. I am scared shitless myself. There will be a retaliation, and probably in the form of a terrorist attack over here.
Something to think about: Cheney may be getting desperate. He probably knows the Republicans are losing not only the White House but several seats in congress, as well. Think about it. They piss off the people over here, we get a retaliation in the form of mass casualties, and boom! Martial Law. No elections.

8. Vast numbers of people have already voted
What would be the point of doing this now?

This is just the same border skirmishes we've seen before. They're given more import because they're one week before
the election.

10. I think is less about going in to new places as
it is about trying to get one of these guys to do something in Iraq that will be grounds for us to stay there.

Scenario:

We start to do small incursions in foriegn countries around Iraq. Some one sets off a bomb or a WMD inside Iraq(false flag) that results in significant US loss of life. The US says we have to stay longer because Iraq is still too unstable.
No UN mandate or SOFA.
If I were in country right now I would have my eyes peeled and my head on a swivel.

That is my tinfoil story, feel free to add to it or make up your own.

11. The time has long gone that the military should draw a moral, ethical line
against the boy king, who's proven to be a desperate, power-hungry, mentally-challenged spoiled brat.

Disgusting!

13. I find it curious that neither candidate is making any
comment one way or another about these little incidents. If it's meant to help McCain why isn't he cheerleading, and if it's meant to hurt Obama where is the condemnation?

Didn't they both just attend an intelligence briefing last week? (Notice that they left Palin out of it).

16. Why curious?
Both candidates have endorsed cross-border raids. This will not change no matter what the results.

17. You know that and I know that
But the CTers around here think that there is some Rovian plot to influence the election. Both candidates should show their support for these actions.

15. They are trying to provoke a reaction by Syria and Pakistan to boost McCain
A totally despicable and transparent tactic. How stupid do they think we are? I think Pakistan and Syria know what they are up to too.
