The States to Watch on Election Night
Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 05:52 PM by louis c
The first states to report will be on the East Coast. Virginia closes at 7:00 PM EST. If Barack Obama wins New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Virginia, the ball game is over.

If Obama fails to carry Virginia and Pennsylvania, we're in for a long, tough night. In that case Florida and/or Ohio must come through. If we can't carry Virginia, North Carolina looks like a long shot. And if we fail in Pennsylvania and Virginia, Florida and Ohio seem like a tough bet. We would need to win an upset in Missouri or hold New Hampshire and sweep the Western swing states of Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and a CD vote in Nebraska.

If, on the other hand, Obama carries Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, but loses Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio and Missouri, we still have a clear path to victory. Barring any other upsets by either side, Obama has to carry Colorado and either New Mexico or Nevada to win.

We are now up by 10 points in Pennsylvania, and that is the key state in every scenario. If we hold there, every possible match-up favors us.

The way it shapes up now, I'd rater be us than them.

2. ALL EYES ON VIRGINIA!
I live here and I feel that if they are going to be any shenanigans it could be here.

The lines will be VERY long and the polls close so early.

Good think Kaine is Governor though in case voting has to be extended.
