My Cuban Republican Husband Voted today

in Miami for Obama. He jut called me saying how proud he felt he was voting for him and he truly TRUST Obama will make an excellent President.

This is someone who has never voted Democratic before. By the way, he is the white, Blue eyed, Blond hair Cuban type. :loveya:

lines were smooth. Stood in line for 35 minutes and that he made sure the optical scanner machine printed his voted. The only thing he was not happy with is that the machine doesn't really confirm his selection. The machine doesn't print that he chose for Obama, it is only a print out paper that he voted.

15. Latinos from the Caribbean are stereotyped often into

one type. Long ago in NYC I found the Cubans were said to be white, the Puerto Ricans were indian and the Dominicans were black. I actually found all three nationalities to have all three ethnic groups along with many multi-race individuals. Your husband would probably be referred to as Gringo by some of his Latino friends. ;)

16. Yes. You are right. We are stereotyped

consistely, including amongst ourselves. My husband is referred by his friends as "gringo" until he opens his mouth!!Ha ha ha!.. My neighbors never thought he was Latin, until after three years later we moved into our neighborhood. They thought I had married a gringo because I do have features of a Latina

17. Yeah, I was married to a Dominican for a long time a long time ago. ;)

I am a 'gringa' and he is multi-racial although he claims to be European-Indian(which is what I am). One of his brother-in-laws is blond and blue eyed and he use to get very angry when they called him 'gringo'.

By the way, my daughter also has features of a Latina but is often mistaken for Asian. My son can be taken for Latino, Middle Eastern or just multi-racial American. We are a very varied family. :7

11. Well

He likes Obama because he feels this country needs a change from the last eight years. To him Change is not only an "empty" word as some may say, he is supporting Obama because he wants new leadership in Washington. Republicans to him have not done anything but to screw the middle class. He likes that Obama works well with both side of the isle. He liked Obama during the debates, he said he looked more presidential and liked his plans on how to fix the economy, specifically his health benefits plan. We are a young couple. My husband is 38 years old and was raised by extremely conservative republican parents.

He also likes that Obama has kept his campaign positive. Yeah, he said that!. He said that most of Obama’s commercials he has seen are positive and that is a reflection on how he will run the country.

Last, he obviously care deeply about Cuban issues and constantly says he wouldn’t like to die without visiting his country some day. He dreams of seeing his country one day democratic and hold free elections. He is not hoping for Obama to do something about Cuba. I guess it is that pre-existing mentality Cuban mentality that no Democrat will ever do something to turn Cuba free from its regime of 50 years. I guess he is giving up on all politicians on this subject.

On my end, I would love for Obama to REALLY do something about Cuba, Republicans have taken the Cuban people for granted for many many years and have never done anything meaningful to return Cuba to a Democratic government and society.

it won't OVERTHROW the castro govt. & reinstate pre-revolution property rights, but if the US is open to a socialist cuba (we're fine with a communist china, after all), both countries would benefit. in fact, we could learn a great deal from them about sustainable agriculture.

13. He agrees with Obama of lifting the Embargo with

Conditions. Trading agriculture and other items does not necessarily turn the freedom to Cubans. Remember, cubans can't be allowed not even to go to certain Beaches or have any political voice or opinion against their government. You can't hope for Cubans what is happening to Chinese.

Chinese are being exploited and overworked for pennies.. and still have no freedom of government or elections. I am pro-lifting the Embargo and something must be DONE with all those political prisoners in Cuba that have been in jail for YEARS without no due process just because they spoke against the government.
