Retailers Quietly Push Early Christmas SHopping Season
Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 04:18 AM by lib2DaBone
I want to shop, but I have no money, no job. Maybe they could give stuff away for free. That way.. we could show family members how much we love them and keep Jesus happy at the same time?

1. the only ones I'm buying for this year
are my two nieces - $25 each in the form of a check or gift card. Ditto for my partner's 2 nieces.

my partner and I won't be exchanging gifts - can't afford it

2. Cutting back here as well
Did some shopping on a recent vacation, buying t-shirts along the way for various nieces and nephews. Wife & I called the vacation our Christmas gift to each other... I will enlarge some of the photos and frame them for the wall, as we are also doing some redecorating. Picked up a good deal on some things at an outlet mall for the daughter while on the trip, and will round out the nieces & nephews with bookstore gift cards that I can get by redeeming my Discover Cash Back Bonus, so the cost will be zero on them.

There will be expenses to be sure, but we are going to find ways to cut back in a major fashion this year. Pretty much all the shopping is done, save for a few odds and ends and a couple of gag gifts that are tradition for my MIL (she must have a new turkey baster every year as she hates turkey basters).

3. This article is from last year.
Not that it probably doesn't apply today.
