1. it's not that damaging in itself
but the problem with her is that there is no reason to vote for her and so far every reason to vote agaisnt her.

the thing she kept coming back to was the whole joe six pack crap. how she is just a hockey mom from a small town. but the shopping thing hurts in that area.

so the few fools who may still have leaned towards McCain thinking they could relate may be turned off.

but her biggest problem is that she is just not qualified and most people don't think she is.

2. It's not how much money she spent,
But with that kind of dough and that figure at her age after giving birth to a litter, she really couldn't pick out anything better? Not a demonstration of good judgment.

3. The people that already like her will not care about this
And I would like to think there are very few people who are undecided still that do like her. I do not think this will have much impact.

4. It's of no real sigificance
given the importance of other issues currently at hand : it's clutching at straws.

14. It's damaging.
Most Americans don't spend 150K on clothing in a lifetime. This storyline is damaging, especially to a person who willingly casts themselves as a reformer. And especially when considered no top of all of the other tidbits we've learned over the course of the past few weeks. This lady ain't at all who she claims to be. The emperess has no clothes.

5. Her entire persona is built on image, so this will hurt.
Thus far, the bridge is gone, the earmarks are requested, the daughter is preggers, the troopergate lives on, and travelgate is upon us.

In otherwords, there is nothing there, and now, even her exterior is nothing but a mirage.

6. Other: I don't really believe that there are that many undecideds
who will bother to show up and vote at this point. It might hurt their turnout a bit, but seriously- anyone who doesn't know who they're voting for after all this time and coverage is probably not interested enough to show up.

7. I'm doing everything I can to make it as damaging as possible ...
... I started a page on the Truthiness Encyclopedia to post items she purchased during this shopping spree (http://www.wikiality.com/Sarah_Palin/Shopping_Spree).

And I've referred to her as Marie Antoinette (which I hope will catch on) when discussing the shopping spree with friends loud enough to be heard by other diners.

11. Excellent!
Marie Antionette! I love it.... I'm going to start using this too, if you don't mind.

8. Nagging...Yet Another Part of The "Palin Legacy"
Or should we call it "Palin Place". In the past 8 weeks, we've gotten a mosaic of this woman that no one incident ranks higher than the other. From being a poor mother to the pitbull with lipstick to her Couric interview or not knowing what a VP does and now this spree...it's a full picture people are getting and each comes away with the impression of a person way over her head and getting deeper by the day.

The biggest mistake Camp Gramps has done in this election is picked a fight with the media with Sarah Barracuda in the middle. The GOOP hoped to control her access and image like they had in the past with boooshie, but it didn't take. The stories about her came out almost immediately and each week presents a new embarassment and distraction. Thus any new story to add to the pile will get the tongue wagging once again. And I suspect even after the election we won't be through with all of her goofiness.

9. Of itself... not that much
but when combined with Troopergate, Kiddie Travel Expensegate and Wardrobegate they speak to her character and judgement (and McCain's for picking her). None either independently or collectively are damning, but they are hardly good news either.

10. All of what you said, but also more damaging because of the economy
and her stupid statements about 'real america' and its values.

Real America doesn't spend $150,000 on makeovers.

12. There are far less chickenshit things to get her on...
than a shopping spree.

This is, after all, the nation that doesn't bat an eyelash when Rachel Zoe dresses people who can't walk out and get the mail without agonizing over which shoes to wear.

18. Doesn't matter to me, but...
I think it totally undermines all that "regular American" bullshit.

I'm kind of surprised it's taken off! Cindy McCain's wardrobe is even more egregious, but no one bothered with that, I guess because it's her own money.
