An early Halloween story
So there I was, in the Halloween aisle at our local Rite-Aid drug store and the masks caught my eye. There were the usual Michael Myers and Frankenstein monster ones. but there was also a section with Obama and McCain masks. I was checking out the Obama mask (good hair, bad mouth and teeth) and then McCain (didn't look like him at all). A group of kids approached and I said to the girl closest to me while pointing at the Obama mask "This one's not scary at all....but now this one" pointing to McCain "this one is the scariest one of all!"

She put on the Obama mask and then one of the smaller kids came up to her and shrieked...loudly. I had to laugh as I heard her tell the boy "This mask isn't scary at all! That one up there is SCARY!!"

Then I realized their parents probably weren't far away and could possibly be McCain supporters. They might not look too kindly on a stranger telling their kids to be afraid of McBogeyMan.

I hightailed it out of there, laughing as I went. It felt good. :)

Happy Halloween!

The End

:)

1. I took it as a good sign at my local halloween store...
supposedly the masks of the most popular presidential candidate coincide with who is going to win the vote in an election year...my local store was completely out of Obama masks and had three racks of McCain. I'm in Michigan, so that lines up with the polls here. Works for me. :-)

2. I wish I still had a Nixon mask. Those really were scary!!
Reagan masks were super-creepy too.

3. I can imagine them seeing the news that night
"mommy the scary old man is on TV"!!!

I stopped by my local Democratic headquarters to get an obama yard sign. "Sorry we're all out."

It's a beautiful thing.
