Democrats ready to stop repeat for Obama of Gore's hanging-chad fiasco...
'Just before Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton walk on stage in front of a roaring Florida crowd of 40,000 - arm-in-arm and beaming - Richard Siwica, a harassed looking lawyer, takes the podium to invoke the ghosts of hanging chads past.

“We'll have lawyers in every significant precinct,” Mr Siwica told this Orlando crowd. Many Democrats here still speak of the 2000 Florida recount that gave the presidency to George Bush as an evil spell hovering over the state - a hex that could yet reappear to rob Mr Obama of victory.

“Hundreds of lawyers have volunteered in Orlando alone,” Mr Siwica said. Then, in a reference to Florida's 36-day drama of disputed ballots eight years ago that, after the intervention of the US Supreme Court, handed the White House to Mr Bush by 537 votes, he vowed: “When you vote we'll be standing behind you to make sure it counts - so ‘you know what' will not be allowed to happen again.”'

1. This man is on. his. game. He has learned from the past, which is an example of his wisdom.

5. The problem is that lawyers can't do shit to prevent
fraudulent software from miscounting votes.

6. Maybe they can
Maybe. If there is a massive discrepency between pre & exit polls vs. the official results they may be able to file a suit based on that. Plus maybe (heavy on the maybe) conyers will do something as chair of the house judiciary. He may have given up in impeachment, but he knows there is election fraud and even wrote a book about it in 2004.

7. I'm less than convinced of that
These are machines bought with state & federal funds and operated under state & federal auspices. Certifications that speak to operational compliance are key. No one is saying it would be simple. But my atty, who is as well a medical ethicist for Cal St among other specialties; is able to make tap dance they that can't even dance. I do appreciate your concern however still, and I believe this to be true enough: the proof will be in the tasting of that pudding no doubt.
