1. McCain's campaign got public financing, but not the RNC.
Apparently it was the RNC, not the McCain campaign itself, that financed the shopping spree, so it would be Republican donors who paid for the fancy duds.

2. While it was RNC (not public) funds that paid for the duds, it may be a illegal coordination ...
... of funding and campaign activities between the RNC and the M/P campaign committee. *IF* the funds had come from the public funding given the M/P campaign, it'd be clearly illegal. Thus, coordinating expensing between the two may itself be illegal.

4. Did you mean "commingling"? Maybe coordination is illegal but
that's pretty vague and probably impossible to prove but it might be possible to find a money trail showing some funds ending up in the same accounts...

7. Wait a minute...MSNBC said the RNC referred them to the McCain
Campaign to answer questions re. the clothing allowance/expenditures. So, who paid the bills? The RNC or JMcC? Legal or illegal? Taxpayers or ???

8. The RNC paid ... and seems to be claiming they still own the clothing.
Supposedly, the clothing will be donated to charity after the campaign.

I wonder if they'll take 'em and throw her on the plane back to Alaska in the buff. Photojournalists are on the alert, I guess.

5. If it makes you feel any better, she's giving the wardrobe to charity after.
Great.

6. My first reaction to her wardrobe bill was disgust.
But then I thought that's $150K they won't be spending on ads or robocalls.
