What will "conservatives" do now that their brand is dead?
Will they take a good, hard look into their collective soul and figure out what they've done wrong? Will they then find a new, more functional path?

Will they lie and deny and continue to pass the buck, refusing to believe they've done this to themselves? Will they try to gin up an argument for "voter fraud"?

Or will they crumple up and die, to be replaced by what, exactly?

I guess the answer could depend on the other side of the coin, which is whether the Democrats will seize this opportunity. The Democrats could shoot themselves in the foot. I wish I could say that they're better than that, but I can only say that I hope they're better than that.

3. Reinvent themselves as even friendlier Patriots
and really really really hide the racist fearmongering next time. Really. The code will be indecipherable. To non-racists, that is.

4. The conservative brand was never alive
They're some sort of undead monster that can't be killed. Keep that in mind if this election isn't stolen- they won't be going away.

5. Return to their heyday when Clinton was in office
Bashing, deriding, and calling for impeachment on a daily basis. Those were heady times for AM radio.

Saturday Night Live's loss is Limbaugh's (and our) gain.

8. Here's what I think they need to do.
True conservatives need to denounce the neocons & the extreme religious right & take back their party. Let those two groups form their own party. Maybe the conservatives thought it wasn't selling out their convictions to get into bed with extremists all for some votes. Maybe they thought they could control them. Instead, the extremists have mutated the party into something ugly that I think many real conservatives are starting to see isn't conservatism at all.
