from the Ohio Democratic Party Executive Director:
Dear XXXX,
Democrats are winning the crucial early vote battle in Ohio.
Here are five key points about how Democrats are winning that battle:
Enormous Early Voting Turn Out in Ohio. Early voting in Ohio started September 30th. Since then, nearly 1.3 million people in Ohio are voting early, either in person or by mail (as of 10/21/08).
Democrats are Beating the GOP in Early Voting. Historically, Republicans beat Democrats in absentee balloting. But this year, 38.2% of early voters in Ohio are Democratic, 24.7% are Republican, 27.2% are independents, and 4.9% are new registrants or unknown – a stunning advantage for Democrats.
Early Voter Profile Leans Democratic. As of yesterday, 451,965 ballots have been cast, in person and by mail. The absentee ballot requestors are more Democratic than the state as a whole, and, even more important, Democrats are dominating the early voting returns (see the chart below).
This type of analysis is possible because the Ohio Democratic Party invested more than $370,000 in polling, modeling, and micro-targeting of Ohio voters in the last year.
My wife an I are thinking of fly out to Ohio to help at one of the Early Voting Centers before election day.
