BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Western Kentucky University officials say they have received a report of men armed with guns on a campus of the school in south central Kentucky.

University spokesman Bob Skipper says the incident is occurring inside the school's South Campus. Skipper says the building has been evacuated and police are searching the area.

University lawyer Deborah Wilkins says there are no reports of injuries.

Western Kentucky University is under lock-down after the threat of a gunman on school grounds.


Kentucky State Police, Bowling Green Police, and WKU Police have evacuated South Campus.

Bowling Green Police have confirmed reports of shots fired on WKU's main campus at Pearce Ford Tower.

Whether or not shots were actually fired is still unconfirmed.

I've been there a few times. My dad attended there on the GI Bill after WWII and graduated when I was 9 years old.

4 armed people with even the most basic of firearms could do a lot of damage in that setting. I hope they are caught soon and we find out what is going on.

Is what I read on CNN.com. WKU is the school with the big red blob-looking mascot that has been on ESPN commercials, their basketball team also had one of the most memorable last second shot wins in the NCAA tournament last year.

I hope they catch these guys quickly. A lone person with a gun can be domestic violence or mental illness, I don't know what to make of the CNN report.

But as of right now, there's nothing to indicate what happened aside from a big fight somewhere on campus and four guys running around with guns.

16. There was a physical altercation originally (Pierce Ford Tower?)

and now they don't know if there are guns involved. Sounded like a fight broke out and moved elsewhere, might not be as dangerous a situation as first considered.

Someone said it was 30 African American guys getting in a fight and then the SWAT team was dispatched into that area.

22. My daughter is there...I was FINALLY able to reach her.

Campus was on lockdown. Shots were fired, but no injuries. I couldn't get her to answer her phone for over an hour. She just called me back....I am a wreck.


The shots were fired at her dorm.
