the story hadn't been leaked. Am I being just too much of a liberal un-American skeptic to believe such a thing of a party that is so true blue Amurikan as the GOP?

And if I never see her again, she's welcome to them.

3. It's a nice gesture, but OBNOXIOUS
That $150K comes from tax-payer dollars. Remember, McCain is using public financing.... meaning OUR MONEY.

When people are struggling just to make ends meet, it's terribly OBNOXIOUS to spend $150K on clothing, shoes, makeup and hair styling. I imagine most candidates DO have a budget for this kind of thing, but I highly doubt it's anywhere near $150K. I heard some talking-heads saying last night they had never heard of such a thing.

I mean think about it... how expensive do the clothes need to be and how many did she buy for THAT much money???? And the kids too? Really... it's a slap in the face.

On top of it, the money is spent... gone... sending $150K to charity is nice and all, but that just means they'll now be spending $300K on the Palin mess.

It's not the biggest of issues, but it REALLY gets under my skin. I could use new clothes for work too... I'd be happy if "What Not to Wear" just gave me $5,000!

4. Who said mink coats don't trickle down?
Winter is coming and they will be ideal for some poor, bedraggled bag lady out on the cold streets. They'll look real chic to boot! :eyes:

7. My opinion too.

They will not go to charity. The Palins will get to keep their new "What Not to Wear" wardrobe & some mythical charity will be sighted as having received the clothing.

We can only hope that the amount of money spent will rub a nerve with some of her supporters, but alas, they are so dim, that I doubt it will.

on edit: Has anyone else noticed that she never wears blue? ;)

8. Those clothes are going back to Alaska WITH the family
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 12:43 PM by SoCalDem
Nothing will be "donated"..

Once McCain loses, no one will care about the clothes..

Anyway, the money was spent on the FAMILY.. Who's gonna take little Piper's fancy duds away from her:)

What a tight-fisted shrew Cindy is.. $150 k is nothing to HER, and her money is "secret".. she should have outfitted the family, and chalked it up to private charity/gift to "family"..no one would have ever had to know..

This whole debacle just reinforces the fact that she IS Barbie, and her family & wardrobe are the "sold separately" extras...

One look at all the photos (before most were purged) on-line shows that her fashion sense was mostly pretty awful, so it's no wonder they wanted to dress her up..but they went about it all wrong.. (as usual)..

She should have come right out, and thanked the McCain campaign..in PUBLIC, for all the help with wardrobe, and then joked about how casual Alaskans dress and then placed the emphasis on how coats cover up a LOT,,

By hiding it and pretending that it's no big deal, the media MADE it a big deal...and now they have to admit the hypocrisy..

9. the donate ploy - just another Republican bullshit game
They do what ever the hell they want and when they get called on it they do something like this. Yeah, we spent $150,000 on clothes but were going to give them to charity so that makes it all okie dokie, you betcha!
