Poll question: Why did Palin flub the "What does a VP do" question?
2 months ago a youtube video of Palin stating she doesn't know what a VP does made the rounds. You'd think she'd make it a priority to know the answer. She's been running for the job for two months, for gawd's sake!

Palin Still Doesn't Know What the VP Does
October 21, 2008, 5:46PM

In another stunning display of ignorance Sarah Palin answers the question of what the job of Vice President entails. During an interview with a local Colorado NBC affiliate she is asked a question from a third grader who wrote in "What does a Vice President do?" Here is Palin's answer:

"They're in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom."

1. in another thread, we've speculated that her answer, since its consistent,
implies she is being told that by the campaign.

3. I Would Have to Agree
It's a really strange answer to repeat. It seems like the campaign doesn't want to go back on anything. Or else she's doesn't understand the concept of a ceremonial/tiebreaking post.

20. No, indeed
She is chosen to please the Democrats and that's their only success. She's a blessing in disguise for the Democratic Party.

Let's be real; the GOP has this time no chance to win over any Democratic candidate but they want to try out some strategies and dead-born ideas. What has to be improved next time when the fight becomes serious with chances for both parties. In the meantime they have some fun with Palin and her hyper-conservative christians.

5. My Spin Prediction
She was tailoring her answer for a 3rd Grader, and it's a shame that the elites can't figure that out

11. They said that on Hardball
But Matthews ate their lunch on it. 2nd grader, 3rd grader, whatever. It is just the WRONG answer. What is so hard about telling a 3rd grader "the Vice president is there to take over in case the president gets really sick and can't be the president for a while, or if the president dies. The vice president is also a tie breaker in the Senate, like if you have 3 friends that want to eat pizza for lunch and 3 who want hamburgers, the vice president would get to make the choice that will decide between the pizza or hamburgers".

That's it! Simple. Unless of course you are a completely vacant fool who can only repeat talking points, and can't admit when you are out of your depth.

9. That is no flub ---
It is what she and the BushCo. people handling McCain's campaign envision the job to be -- an extention of what Cheney has been doing for the past 7 years.

10. I'll bet you she was given a simple answer that she ad-libbed.
Campaign staff told her that the VP was first in succession, president of the senate, etc.

She took "president of the senate" and started trying to think what that meant and pathetically attempted to elaborate based on what she thought "president" meant.

15. All of the above, but...
Intellectually lazy should have the word "terrible" added.
I am sure she is intelligent (IQ120), far more than McCain (IQ95), but she never ever used that to become some content.
She said that she even wants more power than Cheney has now. Well, McCain, like Tod Palin, needs to be controlled, harsh controlled, but by who?

23. Where did you get her IQ?
I cannot imagine it is that high. I would say it is a middling average, and definitely lower than Dubya's.

19. she knows
But like the others stated here she's got hubris on her mind. The plan to expand even further the VP role as Cheney has done. Another co-presidency with these guys.

24. Because like many Fundies
they believe that what they *want* to be true *is* true, and facts are not going to stand in their way. Magical thinking.

She *wants* the VP to have all these additional, extra-Constitutional powers, therefore the VP *does* have all these additional, extra-Constitutional powers.
