Did Everyone See the KY Senate Race SUSA Poll Yesterday--TIE!
Kentucky -- Senate Minority Leader Now in Danger of Ending With a Minority of Votes in Bid for 5th Term: In an election for US Senator from Kentucky today, 10/21/08, two weeks until votes are counted, incumbent Republican Mitch McConnell and Democrat Bruce Lunsford are tied, 48% each, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for WHAS-TV Louisville and WLEX-TV Lexington. In a SurveyUSA poll released in August, McConnell led by 12. Today he leads by zero. Women have rallied to Lunsford, who once trailed by 11 but now leads by 11. Among seniors, Lunsford had trailed by 14, now leads by 6. In Western KY, McConnell had led by 20, now by 4. In North Central KY, McConnell had led by 14, now by 1. In Eastern KY, McConnell had led by 26, now trails by 5.

1. As someone who lives in Kentucky,
I am very hopeful that we will soon be telling Mitch goodbye.

4. Didn't they pass that new law that says you can't work for a Lobbying firm for like 2 years
after leaving office?

3. I actually saw a McConnell ad last night
It was on the local Fox station in Knoxville, TN. I was watching House. I guess the station must reach into SE KY. Mitch must be feeling the heat to be spending money on prime-time TV.

5. Both McConnell and Lunsford ads
are in heavy circulation on all the stations in the Charleston/Huntington, West Virginia, area. Those stations cover eastern Kentucky.

I have been impressed by how quickly the Lunsford campaign has responded to attack ads by McConnell. Lunsford appears to be following the Obama model of campaigning -- stay positive, highlight the issues, and respond immediately to attacks.

9. I haven't been crazy about the DSCC ads supporting Lunsford...
They seem a bit too cheesy for my taste, especially based on official campaign ads. I wonder what effect, if any, they'll have.

6. The only way this benefits us is getting us closer to 60. Hopefully Lunsford caucuses with the Dems.
I wouldn't be surprised if he turned Lieberman.

8. This is great news and is reflected in the Real World..
I see more "Ditch Mitch" signs than I do ones promoting him.

I personally know three lifelong Republicans who have "Ditch Mitch" and Lunsford signs in their yards. People are sick of McConnell. They ain't voting for McCain either.
