6. There's almost two weeks left. Joe Biden still has gaffes left in him
I wouldn't worry about it, just kind of comes with Joe Biden.

If there has been a recent one, I haven't seen or heard about it, so can't help you. Sorry.

8. SNL is going to have a blast with him over the next few years
Chevy Chase ought to be around the right age--maybe they can bring him in to play Biden for the skits.

2. That belongs on a bracelet or a bumper sticker.
You must be talking about the thing he said a few days ago about Obama being tested by the world with a major international crisis.

21. Exactly what I thought when I read the thread title.
I could see it embossed on one of those silicone 'Lance Armstrong' bracelets... but probably a blue one, you know.

5. He guaranteed that
there would be a manufactured International incident within 6 months to "test" Obama.

Not the smartest thing to say because it's off the economic message and it gives the Palin/McCain ticket something to talk about other than the fact that they're getting their ass handed to them but it'll likely blow over pretty quickly.

7. Biden predicts early crisis will test Obama
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 08:35 AM by meegbear
Joe Biden told Democratic fundraisers Sunday night that there is no doubt in his mind a crisis will occur during Barack Obama's first six months in office that will test his mettle and force him to make unpopular decisions.

"Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy," said Biden to a roomful of donors. "The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America."

"Remember I said it standing here, if you don't remember anything else I said," Biden continued. "Watch, we're going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.

"I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's going happen. I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate."

The Delaware senator spoke at two Seattle fundraises Sunday night, expected to bring in $1 million for the campaign. Biden told the supporters that when Obama will need them to stand with the administration on the difficult calls — not financially, but by using their influence within their communities to convince others that the right decisions are being made.

"I promise you, you all are going to be sitting here a year from now going, 'Oh my God, why are they there in the polls, why is the polling so down, why is this thing so tough?' We're going have to make some incredibly tough decisions in the first two years," said Biden. "I'm asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point because you're going to have to reinforce us."

Telling the crowd to "gird their loins" for a bumpy beginning to the next presidential term, Biden said it wouldn't be initially apparent that the correct decisions are being made because "they're not likely to be as popular as they are sound. Because if they're popular, they're probably not sound."

Fundraisers are generally closed to the media's cameras, though print journalists are usually allowed in. Biden appeared to forget Sunday night's fundraiser wasn't closed to reporters, saying, "I probably shouldn't have said all this because it dawned on me that the press is here." Moments later, he ended his remarks.

10. morning amy and everyone
Am new to this forum. You can read it here: http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/10/biden-to-suppor.html. An excerpt:

"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

He's taking heat because he didn't generalize that both would be tested making it seem that Senator Obama would be exclusively because of his young age. I think Senator Biden was just making it clear that our support can't stop once he's elected.

13. He Stated The Obvious
If I recall, it was within the first year of the boooosh regime that nearly 3,000 American lay dead. That sure was a test wasn't it...and we know the grade, too.

Every new President is tested upon taking office...and, if elected, Senator Obama faces a wide array of challenges and messes to clean up. We have no clue how bad things really are...this super-secret regime only has been caught in its excesses, it'll take months for a new administration to sort out a lot of the residue. The challenge will be to start getting this mess cleaned while keeping other crisis from getting out of control. It's a balancing act many of us know will be required and a major reason why we see Senator Obama as the most qualified candidate to deal with the many challenges ahead.

19. Yep, twisted like a pretzel... Only desperate neosheep think its a gaffe...
Doesn't matter who gets to be president. If McCain wins, GOD FORBID, then he would be tested too. Only difference is that McCain already failed the test with his jokes about attacking Iran and staying in Iraq for 100 years, and, OH, making fun of people who want to use diplomacy first.

Obama will pass his test...

Unlike W who failed so miserably for 8 years!
