Tim Mahoney is a congressman for one reason and one reason only. He happened to be running against a guy who turned out to be a sexual predator. Under normal circumstances he should not for any reason have won that election in 2006. He is literally a congressman by accident.
But if you looked at his fundraising and poll numbers, Mahoney had a real chance at being re-elected. Then he has multiple affairs and ruins his career. No I personally don't give a shit and yes I would still vote for him if I lived in his district. But honestly I just find this whole process ridiculous sometimes.
Michelle Bachmann is another one of these wonders. She was all set to be pretty easily re-elected then she puts her foot in her mouth on national television and now some guy named Elwyn Tinklenberg that we've never heard of might become a Congressman.
To be honest I don't know why I'm ranting. The absolute stupidity of these people just amazes me. The fact that people can get into the United States Congress literally by accident just amazes me. Yes I do think it's a good thing, but it still kind of bugs me that the universe works like this.
2. It's impossible not to be a DINO in that district
I excused Mahoney's voting record because of the reasons stated above. He's a congressman by accident and it would be career suicide to actually vote party line on key issues in that district. But then he goes and commits career suicide in other ways. I guess that's part of why I'm so pissed off.
