10. They will try but the point is to make the wave so high, they can't do it
Tis what happened in 2006.

21. make the wave high, but if THAT doesn't work?
They've learned from 2006. Besides, the stakes are bigger this year, so they'll be willing to risk a lot more.

Let's be honest here. With the current polls, we're far enough ahead to win easily. And, the polls don't fully take newly registered voters into account, so we're even further ahead than it looks. We can't lose.

In a FAIR election.

But we haven't had a fair election in this country for at least 8 years. Every 2 years, Republicans commit election fraud, disenfranchise voters, and deny the will of the people. Voters purged, voters intimidated, exit polls "adjusted", votes not counted, voting machine "errors" that always turn a "D" to an "R", never vice-versa.

At some point, we have to draw a line in the sand, and make sure they know that "We, the People" are the first three words of the Constitution for a REASON, and we ALL have the right to make decisions.

If Obama wins in spite of their best attempts to steal it from him, we, his voters and financial backers, the people who GOT him the job, must make SURE his Justice Department prosecutes every instance of election fraud and protects the right of every American voter to exercise the franchise. We must pass whatever laws are necessary to prevent this kind of theft from happening every two years. Full and free elections should not be a partisan issue.

But if they DO steal the election from Obama, and from us, what do we do THEN?

Right now I'm doing everything I can (without quitting my job!) to get as many people as possible to vote, to overwhelm the thieves and make theft of the election impossible. I'm also trusting in Obama's plan--he's aware of the problem, he's already done more to prevent disenfranchisement than Kerry and Gore combined, and he's proven phenomenally good at anticipating problems throughout the election.

I'm hoping for the best, but if the worst happens, I'd like to know I won't be the only one mad as hell and marching in the streets.

17. I voted early and hand delivered it to the official drop off box at city hall
I've been checking and here are the results from www.votejeffco.com , my county's voter website.

Your request for a mail-in ballot was received on: 10/02/2008
Your mail-in ballot was mailed out on: 10/08/2008
Your mail-in ballot was received and processed on: 10/17/2008

That last line was just added today. :):):):)

22. How to destroy the Republican party:

1) Make certain that every American that wants to vote can register easily and simply, and vote without hassle.

That's it.

We're a majority even when they steal a huge chunk of votes. If everyone could vote, they'd be relegated to irrelevance for a generation.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch o' folks.

If they couldn't steal votes and/or scare people, they know they'd be obsolete.

19. k*r Great one!!!
Good for Palast and RFK Jr. This is par for the course. The time's article on this by Ian Urbina caught Colorado's election director by surprise. The guy took a while and came back with much lower
numbers. I'm convinced that the article caused the elections division to correct the big no no they committed. It's just a few strokes on a key board to make things right.

Speaking truth to bureaucrats is vital. It's their sweet tushes on the line if there's a big screw up.

These purges are just what was done before Florida 2000 by Katherine Harris. They became part of the routine developed out of the Help America Vote Act, passed by a huge bipartisan majority.

The Democrats had a chance to shut this down and fix it in 2007/2008 but got obsessed over bills that kept computerized voting in place with ultimately meaningless safe guards. This wasn't done out of ill intent, just total lack of information and understanding.

They've made a lousy bed for all of us.

The tragedy is simply this. The problems with our elections from registration to voting equipment to the ever present civil rights violations are all easily fixed for a low cost. The fact that they're not and that the politicians and bureaucrats who know better allow the problems to occur again and again indicates that the government has total contempt for the voters. They think we don't get it. But we do and pretty soon citizens will wake up and say - why have those in charge failed to fix very fixable problems?

I can't believe that's right. If one in every five Colorado voters is told they cannot vote, all hell will break loose.
