Front Yard Battle over Prop 8
http://www.kcbs.com/Front-Yard-Battle-over-Prop-8/3175287

SAN JOSE (KCBS) -- A San Jose family that supports the proposition to outlaw gay marriage in California discovered that free speech comes with a price.

When the “Yes on 8” sign Bob and Michele Sundstrom had placed in their front yard was stolen, the couple replaced it with a banner over their garage only to find some very public criticism of their position park in front of their house.

On Sunday, two people parked an SUV on the street outside the couple’s home, painted it with the slogan “bigots live here,” locked the vehicle and left.

1. Kudos
to whoever came up with the idea to park that SUV there.

2. saw that on the local news this am. couple of questions:
has anyone, especially the reporter for KPIX-5 news, who interviewed the people in that house, checked the registration? should be pretty easy for a seasoned reporter like old Phil Mattier, he's been an investigative journalist for years in the bay area.Seems to me he'd like to talk to the people who own the car.

the mother said that her 11 year old asked her what a bigot is and if it's bad. do you know any 11 year olds who haven't at least heard this word? I sure as hell don't.

there's some undefinable scent permeating this story.

3. Kick. Ass.
I can't believe the homeowners were brave enough to give their real names. Maybe they hope to be martyrs for the cause.

4. Michelangelo Signorile made an interesting comment today
that yes on 8 signs should be considered hate speech.

5. I live in the Bay Area and I'm suprised to death that anyone would fly that sign off their house.
And then have the nerve to bitch at the negative attention. It's the equivalent (to me) of saying "I think a lot of my neighbors are subhuman!" It might be my paranoid little mind but I'm wondering if they are courting the press attention to get more abuse heaped on them so they can point fingers and say they are suffering from bigotry. Oh the humanity. Sob, sob, liberals are so mean.

I'm hoping that the people who parked the car with the sign painted on it will recruit friends with cars to do the same as a relay for the next couple of weeks. The cops can't tow new cars that just happen to take the same space and move on after 72 hours...

16. I think the problem is
that these "yes" people don't realize how vile they are. I have a "yes" yard sign across the street from me and I'm disgusted by its mere existence. I responded with homemade signs in my windows that they've had to look at for the past couple of weeks. Fair is fair.

6. There's a house around the corner with 2 of those signs
And this is a freakin' liberal area. I've seen Yes on 8 signs in a few public spots, but they tend to be taken down (not me, I swear). There are No on 8 signs too.

I have to drive by this house almost every day. Interestingly, the house is owned by a bi-racial couple; I would think they would decry discrimination. But bigotry knows no bounds, apparently. I really hope this prop dies a quick death on Nov. 4, but I am not so sure.

8. Would some one explain why this behavior is acceptable...
But should it be done to people displaying Obama signs it is reprehensible.

Prop. 8 may well be one of the most reprehensible measures on the ballot in California this year, but this kind of behavior smacks of Michelle Malkin or Laura Ingraham.

12. Well, I love the idea of the painted van...
...parked nearby on public property, but I can't defend sign theft. The answer to an objectionable opinion should be another peacefully-expressed opinion, preferably one fact-based. Censorship is not required, and is part of what we're supposed to be fighting against.

14. Support of Prop 8 is reprehensible, period. I applaud whoever parked that SUV there.
Not something I would do, but fuck... it's the TRUTH. People who support Prop 8 are BIGOTS.

9. I saw this!
:woohoo: for the car guy.

There are a few yes on 8 signs in my n'hood and I want to rip them down. I want to knock on their door and ask them why they are such jerks. I don't get it. And all this bullshit that's being spewed about it's for the children, taking away a church's tax exempt status and teaching kids how to be gay in school. :eyes: Unbelievable.

10. Hope that SUV owner doesn't like his windows
Would anyone like to bet that they won't be broken in due time? Tires slashed also? Gas tank sugared, or whatever among such things actually works?
