NC Lawmaker: Comment on liberals was wrong
The Associated Press

CONCORD, N.C.: Republican Rep. Robin Hayes says he was wrong to tell voters at a John McCain rally that "liberals hate real Americans that work and accomplish and achieve and believe in God." The North Carolina lawmaker made the comment Saturday in Concord before McCain's appearance ... The Charlotte Observer said Hayes released a statement Tuesday acknowledging the remark ... http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/10/21/america/Congressman-McCain-Rally.php

6. His first statement was a denial he'd ever said it
But once the audiotape surfaced, as well as confirmation from several reporters who were in the room, it looks like old Robin has decided to acknowledge cold, hard facts after all. But it just "came out completely the wrong way." Which means he doesn't really repudiate the sentiment, just the inartful way he stated it.
