I've seen two instances of petty crime (theft) in the last 48 hours
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 12:57 PM by slackmaster
After going for years without either being a crime victim or a witness to a crime (other than victimless ones), I had my vehicle broken into and $65 worth of food and clothing stolen on Sunday evening while I was eating dinner. This morning I found a young man's wallet in my driveway, with ID, an ATM card, etc. but no cash in it. I turned that in to the police on the way to work.

I'm not saying it's a trend or anything, but it may be a sign of the times.

Nobody has messed with my political signs.

1. I had a Wii sitting in my car covered by a towel and was going to just lock my car
until I sold it on ebay, and realized, that wouldn't be too smart. bad economy = more theft.

4. In my old pickup truck, I had a blinking red LED in the instrument panel
I constructed the circuit and installed it myself, with a hidden switch to activate it.

All the thing did was blink continuously. Nobody ever broke in after that was installed.

5. Towels these days have a lot of technology.
I've got an anti-theft towel that incorporates the latest anti-monster blanket weaving.

2. It's a sign of the tough economic times. There was an article on one of the news sites this week
about how property crimes increase as money gets tight.

7. I bought "The Club" for my car.
It's an old rotten club sandwich with moldy bread. I put it on the seat and when someone breaks in, he eats the sandwich and gets food poisoning.

14. That did occur to me very briefly
But I couldn't think of a reason the individual would have been in my driveway, unless maybe he was drunk off his ass and passed out under my boat.

The police will deal with it.

11. I still live in an area that if I forget and leave my keys in the car or my backdoor unlocked
nothing happens. Invest in nosy, busybody neighbors. It's the latest in technology!

12. lol! The young man's wallet might not have been stolen. My son just walks
around with just his license in his wallet. Whatever money he has, he keeps in his pocket.

13. I do the same thing
I rarely have cash in my wallet, it's generally stuffed into my pocket, though sometimes I take the effort to face it and place it in denomination order.

but recently the house two doors down was broken in to and a window unit
A/C was taken from a vacant house two doors down in the other direction.
