Yesterday, I arrived at the local Democratic Campaign Headquarters a few minutes before it opened, and so I went to the bookstore next door. I bought two new books, and am curious if other DUers have read them. I'm interested in other people's opinions on each of them
The first is "The War Within: A Secret White House History 2006-2008," by Bob Woodward. It is, of course, the 4th in his series about the Bush-Cheney administration. While the first book was little more than Bob's cheerleading, each of the next two took a more accurate and negative view of the administration. From what I've read thus far, this book continues in the direction.
The second book is "Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency," by Barton Gellman. On the inside flap, the first sentence reads, "Barton Gellman shared the Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for a keen-edged reckoning with Dick Cheney's domestic agenda in The Washington Post." From what little that I've read so far, this book seems to expose some of the material that I think is important to progressive and liberal democrats -- and any American who values the Constitution.
Have you read either book? Or are you planning to?
Thanks, H2O Man
