I want Sarah Palin to run for President in 2012.
I hope she is the nominee of the Republican Party. It will be interesting to see her try and reconcile her comments about gay marriage, negative robo-calling campaigns, "real" America vs fake America, and her socialist policies as a Governor. Will she support higher taxes on the Big Oil companies, as she has done in Alaska, in order to give the citizens of Alaska a larger revenue check for their oil production? Just how much socialism does she support? And will her Party support these "extremist" positions in 2012?

Or will she resort to the tried and true methods of running on God, Guts, and Guns? Will she continue to try and appeal to the lowest common denominator in her Party? Will she re-appear with the promise to cut taxes and balance the budget by the end of her first term, since it has worked so well for them in the past? Will she make the race about "us" vs "them"? Will she be any wiser 4 years from now?

I wish the best for Sarah Palin. I hope she finds her own voice and becomes a symbol of moderation for her Party. I hope she becomes a populist reformer. How far can she go and still get the support of the kooks on the right? Can she win without them? If the present campaign is any indication, Sarah Palin will have to fight very hard to maintain any relevance for 2012.

1. No chance.
She's gone after this election, if we are fortunate enough to win it. She was a gimmick and even the Republicans know it. She'll go back to Alaska and then probably end up on Faux.

14. She'll come back.
The GOP does not invest in someone or an idea that they don't repackage and try to shove down our throats after it's initial failure.

Remember, the GOP invented the idea of the revolving door (http://www.wikiality.com/Revolving_door)

2. NO
Because she's a serial animal killer. A heartless one. I don't want her face rearing over USA airspace again. :P

3. It Would Rock If She Ran
She's a sociopath, but fortunately not a bright one - at least 2/3rds of We The People can tell that she's a loon. She'd be crushed in the primaries, but would bring back bad memories of the Republicans of today.

4. She will have a hard time getting through the Primary
Anyone with a moderate bone in their body will push Palin out. She will get some support but the 2012 GOP Primary will be about the center, though the nuts may still win out in the end ;) .

It would be fun to see a Palin/Huckabee ticket go down in flames.

5. She wont run in 2012, she might even lose reelection in Alaska
The GOP will be blaming her for McCain's loss.

She will become the Typhoid Mary of the party by Nov. 5th.

6. It seems rather hypocritical of her to criticize Obama for wanting to "spread the wealth"
When she has taken money from the pockets of the oil companies and shared it with every citizen of Alaska.

I'm not opposed to her doing this, far from it, but how she can knock Obama for "spreading the wealth" with a straight face is incredible.

Unless "spreading the wealth" is a euphemism for giving tax dollars to "lazy minorities".

7. If Sarah ran in 2012, she'd probably try to sell us a bridge
to nowhere.
If I see her one day after election day, I think my eyes will bleed!
Sorry, she grates on me, in ways I will not describe here.

8. I want Michelle Bachmann to run in 2012
With Congressman Michael Turner, R-OH for Veep. Bachmann-Turner...the ticket to send the GOP decline into overdrive.

9. Taking Care of Business...
would, no doubt, be their campaign slogan?

10. She might be on parole by then.
It would be nice, though. The Dems would end up with 85 Senators.

12. She'll try for the nomination.
She'll have to withdraw after the third or fourth primary. Not placing better than fourth in any of them.

13. Yeah, she's really changed her tune
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 10:51 PM by Blue_In_AK
since she left here. An old friend of mine stopped by to visit this afternoon whom I hadn't seen in years. Inevitably the topic of Sarah rolled around, as it always does. He told me Chuck Heath had been his sixth grade teacher, and Sarah's brother was one of his classmates. The way my friend put it -- "She let them pimp her out." That's about as accurate a statement as I've heard. :)
