I feel like the little boy sitting by the old radio...
...waiting for the second Joe Louis - Max Schmeling heavyweight fight for the championship of the world. The first one had left our hero, Joe Louis, on the mat. The hard punches from the tough German were under-estimated by Joe Louis and his fans. We did not know what was going to happen in that second fight. We were anxious and nervous.

The same feeling can now be applied to the political battle going on for the Presidency of the United States. Instead of sitting by the old RCA radio, we now sit by the High Def television or by computers, still anxious about what will happen on November 4th?

It is said that Joe Louis hit Max Schmeling so hard that he did not wake up until he was about half-way back to Germany. The fans were relieved. Their hero knocked out the bad guy. There was still a God in the Universe, if one believed in such a thing.

1. Ha! What an image..

You're right, this is exciting, and we do tend to flock around whatever media is most accessible. The country will win this time again, even if the republicans may not think so on the 4th of Nov.

2. Nice analogy....except that from what I hear, Max was a nice
fellow, unlike the war criminals we have now in the white house.

Years from now I'm going to be one of those old ladies with a picture of Obama in my dining room. My grandkids are going to think I'm odd and nostalgic and won't be able to figure out why on earth I would have such reverence for that old dude that takes up half of their social studies textbooks.

4. Welcome to DU
:hi:

I'm already an old lady with a picture of Obama in the dining room. Biden's in the picture, too. And I still have a Howard Dean postcard in my window.
