3. What does it say about McSame that this kind of thing could even be thought to be a possibility?

8. Sorry if I find it all but funny

12. I don't know about your parents, but I wouldn't want my folks to be running for Prez and/or VP
Old age, unfortunately is a treacherous fact of life. It's not funny, true, but humor is truth that takes you by surprise.

4. remember that he has his own special mattress shipped to every hotel...
I wonder how that's working out for him as a non-elite, I mean.

10. Really? As a person who sleeps painfully myself, it sounds like a plan to me!
Although since I don't like John McCain, go ahead and spin it as elitist all you want!

13. well, sure -- I'd take my own mattress with me
if I could!

My point was that he makes a rather big play at being EveryManJoe, and then goes around in his 500 dollar shoes and has his special mattress flown in to every hotel he stays at -- the price is astronomical -- can you imagine if people really understood what kind of high maintenance this man was? the money he would cost us as tax payers alone? You think Palin's per diems are bad and her tanning bed is a bit much? Wait till you get a bill from Old Joe. That mattress has been following him around the country, EVERY night. If he flies in a helicopter, the mattress follows. The people needed to drag that thing to his room every night? I fear his needs would make the bail out look cheap..but I digress.

Old EveryManJoe isn't so ordinary; he's kind of an elite snob. This along with the cell tower he got put in by simply making a phone call to Verizon...Things are different when you are that rich and that powerful.

:-)

14. Mom used to say "The rich are not as you and I." She was kinda bitter...
... and since it didn't go along with the other thing she told me about all men being created equal, it took me a long time to figure that one out.

I forego her bitterness on the subject, but she was right. They aren't like the rest of us, and they really cannot see what the problem is in that.

Joe the Non-Unionized Non-Plumber is a fool who votes against his own interests. Let's hope all the rest of the Joes in the country are more awake by now.

11. Their sense of verisimilitude is astonishing.
I have often been taken in by them.

(But this wasn't one of those times....)

7. Perhaps I should not find this funny, but I do.

After the last two weeks with the mccain campaign inciting racially fueled near riots at their rallies, I have no sympathy or empathy for mccain/palin. :grr:

Edited to add that I do know what the Onion is and that this is a joke. I just don't always find their stuff funny: to my son's chagrin.
