"You don't look like a guy who'd vote for Obama"
That is what someone said to me earlier today. A little background. I finally got a Saturday off work, and decided to watch my Iowa Hawkeyes on TV. At halftime, I decided that I was bored sitting here alone, so I went to a local watering hole for a burger, fries and a beer or two. I wore my Obama button, as I always do and in the midst of cheering another Shonn Greene TD, a guy looked at me and exclaimed "You're supporting Obama? You don't look like a guy who'd vote for Obama." I said that "McCain is a dangerous lunatic who will ruin this country for good if he's elected". The guy then left me alone, for which I was greatful.
I sat and mulled over his statement for a few minutes and decided that what he said was likely a racist code meaning that fat bald beer drinking football fans can't support a man of color for President. Or that I don't look like some type of sandal wearing, latte sipping, long haired idealist that he probably has in his mind about Democrats. Either way, I decided that he isn't too smart and that I want nothing further to do with him. Oh yeah, The Hawks smashed the Badgers 38-16 with Greene scoring 4 TD's and gaining 205 yards.

1. Be glad that you burst a stereotype
Who knows? The guy might start thinking,"If fellas that like football are voting for Obama, maybe he isn't all that bad!"

14. I was canvassing and walked into his yard
Told him why we were there and asked if he knew who he was supporting. He said yes, McCain but that his wife was voting for Obama. I said, "that surprises me. You look more like an Obama supporter." He was taken aback and asked how. I sai, "you're cool. Everything about you is cool. Think about Obama. Person like you needs to take that route. Tell your wife we thank her very much and catch you later."

8. I get the same thing all the time.
Apparently, middle-aged, middle-class, white guys are required to be Republicans in some world views.

11. I'm a late 50s white guy, and a fat (almost) bald beer drinking football fan for Barack.
Congrats on your win today.

We will let my Spartans go on this one; we have a game with That Team next weekend.

MSU is heading in the right direction, and Iowa will be back, too. Wisconsin is in deep squat.

I love this stuff, though.

13. We come in all ages, walks of life, etc., etc.
I wear my Obama Mama shirt all over. I cannot tell you the people who have stopped me and asked about my shirt. From the 80 something woman shopping in COSTCO, to the very "redneck" looking man in a pickup truck giving me a thumbs up, to the young supermarket clerk who said she was driving her friends to the polls who didn't have cars. Even ME. The ORIGINAL Hockey Mom.

We WILL be heard on November 4th.:toast:

In IC is that after the Hawks win a game, there are a lot of drunk people running around. If the Hawks lose, there are a lot of drunk people running around.

17. Nobody ever seems to think I'm a Democrat
I get all sorts of people to open up to me. I hear racist jokes and sexist jokes and get elbows and yukyuks about all sorts of right wing crap.

Yeah ... we overweight, overage, bald, white guys are always assumed to be fellow travelers with morons.
