Oliver Stone's "W" #2 at the Box Office

W. exceeded everyone's expectations. There was tremendous curiosity not just in Hollywood but also in political circles nationwide surrounding W.'s North American weekend gross, with predictions ranging wildly from a low of $5 million to a high of $12 million. Well, I just got word that W. played "very old" with 70% of its audience over age 35, enabling it to open No. 2 with $3.8M Friday playing in 2,030 theaters for what should be a $12M weekend.
