Michele Bachmann, psychotic asshole.....
from ThinkProgress:

Bachmann Calls For McCarthy-Like Investigation Into Anti-American Activities Of Liberals»

Appearing on MSNBC’s Hardball today, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) attacked the patriotism of Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), based on his alleged relationship to former Weather Underground member William Ayers and the values of Obama’s former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. “I’m very concerned that he may have anti-American views,” said Bachmann. “That’s what the American people are concerned about.”

She then went further, suggesting that all liberal views — held by people such as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, professors, and all Americans who identify themselves as “liberals” — are “anti-American.” When host Chris Matthews, stunned by her remarks, asked Bachmann how many people in Congress hold anti-American views, she responded, “You’ll have to ask them.”

Bachmann called on the media to conduct investigations into the anti-American activities of members of Congress, similar to Sen. Joseph McCarthy’s discredited House Un-American Activities Committee hearings in the 1950s. “I think people would love to see an exposé like that,” she claimed. Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) made similar comments at a fundraiser yesterday, saying that she loved to visit “pro-America” areas of the country — “small towns” where “hard working” people are “very patriotic.”

19. I just called and got the voice mail, but left a scathing message
I'm so pissed off I can barely speak right now. I have never been so ashamed of a fellow Minnesotan in my lifetime. What filth she is. What an embarrassment to our state she is. What a disgrace to our nation she is.

13. The first three were all senators, she's a congresswoman...
So, to be fair to Minnesotans, you can't blame all of them for that.

And I feel for the poor Dems who have to suffer with her has their representative: I live in VA's 5th District with Virgil Goode as my representative. You know, "too many Muslims in Congress" (with just one), "we need to end immigration from non-European countries to fight terrorism", and "I hate gays, but I'll fund a theater and producer who makes movies about gay relationships." So, yeah, I know how they feel. The Dem challenger, Tom Perriello, is still 12 points behind, but has been experiencing a huge, consistent surge. :-)

14. Bachmann and Coleman are people that force me to re-evaluate my formerly positive regards ...
... for the sanity of the good people of Minnesota. As a grandson of a Son of Norway and, as a child, a frequent guest at smorgasbords and other gatherings of the lutefisk-eating and fiskeboller-loving folks, I have deep feelings of nostalgia when I listen to Prairie Home Companion only reinforced by my several visits to that state. Despite the sardonic irony of having electing a side-show freak for Governor, I've tended to regard Minnesota more as the home of such people as Paul Wellstone and Hubert Humphrey ... but having invested many hours of my life in contemplation of the imbecilic and radical right-wing posturing of Norm Coleman and Michele Bachmann, I have to sincerely question the sanity of their constituency. I have to think they've gone batshit insane to permit those two evil clowns to represent them.

22. Don't forget, they don't have a Democratic party in Minnesota
It's the DFL (Democratic Farmer Labor) party and they are very sensitive about that. They also elected Jesse the Governor.

16. there should definitely be an investigation into anti-American activities
You know, things like torture, pre-emptive war, signing statements, voter suppression, and tax policies which benefit a few and harm the vast majority to name just a few.

18. What she said, in essence, is that she'd like to see members of congress investigated
for the friends and associations each has...and if some of those people that have crossed paths with congressmembers (on boards, in churches, our neighbors, etc) aren't up to her standards, then we can label our reps anti-american???

isn't this something that should lead off evening news? Isn't this frightening and fascist? Shouldn't voters know about this?

Unbelievable!!

21. I am a liberal and proud of it.
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 08:51 PM by teknomanzer
I support the constitution of the United States. I even swore an oath to protect the constitution and served four years in combat arms to back up that oath. I am fanatical about the Bill of Rights and appalled at the way they have been eroded. I LOVE America. I love this country so much that I want to ensure that her people actually have life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I want to make sure that people in America have adequate health care, a job with a wage they can support their family with, a clean environment they can pass on to the next generation, and the ability to improve themselves in manner that they see fit. I love this country so much that I want the nations of the world to hold us in high regard, and not despise or fear us. I don't think that is anti-American at all. It is down right pro-American.

The problem with people like Ms. Bachmann is that she thinks that it is anti-American to criticize the country or its politicians, especially Republican politicians. She thinks it is anti-American to hold any other view than the ones she espouses. Well that is undemocratic and not very American at all, as I see it. How can you claim to love something or someone if you are unwilling to criticize or provide direction. If your friend or family member were off doing something self destructive would it not be your duty out of love to say something. Yes, I look at America and I don't see a perfect nation. In our history this nation has caused pain and misery to her own people and to people abroad through war, conquest, slavery, segregation, and brutal economic policies that have benefited a small handful of people. I am not so ignorant as to white wash our past and present mistakes with blind patriotism. I do see in our nation great potential, but that potential cannot be achieved without thoughtfulness and insight. That comes with open debate and criticism. It cannot happen in a country where freedom is impeded.

I will tell you what I think is anti-American. It is anti-American to deny her people the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is anti-American to leave the people of the nation without adequate health care because the wealth of a few insurance companies is more important than the lives of people. It is anti-American to deny the people of this country the ability to support themselves and their families with a living wage while outsourcing jobs to other countries so a small percentage of elites can generate more wealth. It is anti-American to pollute our land, air, and water and deny the global impact of a short sighted way of life while refusing to pursue policies for clean and renewable sources of energy just so a few oil companies can make record breaking profits. It is anti-American for a few zealots to dictate to everyone else how they should live their lives, choose their relationships, and conduct themselves in the privacy of their own homes while failing to live up to the standards they set for others. It is anti-American to stake the country's reputation, deplete the countries wealth, and waste the blood of her children on an unnecessary war so that a few war profiteers can make dirty money on no bid contracts from the all out destruction of another nation and its people. I think anyone who points their twisted grimy finger at me, and my fellow Democrats and liberals and dares to question our loyalty and patriotism is anti-American.

23. If she imagines herself to be Joseph McCarthy, let her be
She can just go ahead and gather her "evidence" and present it to Congress.

One thing, though. She had better have that "evidence"

NOW

.

If NOT, she should STFU and apologize NOW!!!!
