those Niger forgeries? Who forged them for who and why? This seems to me to be the only thing the Bush/PNAC cabal had to support their claims of imminent nuclear threat. As I understand it the forged document was an incompetent effoft, easily debunked. :shrug:

Considering how aggressively the Conservative blogosphere attacked Dan Rather's "Bush was AWOL" documents, you'd think that those same truth-obsessed bloggers would be all over the Niger forgeries.

Of course, the Rather case was different: in that case, Bush was AWOL, and the documents (if real) would have been the icing on the cake.

But in this case, the whole story is a fraud, of which the Niger documents are only one (admittedly signifcant) part.


Nope. Better to ruminate on who used what kind of typewriter 35 years ago than to worry about whether or not the President willingly deceived the country and the world.
