Check your voter registration RIGHT NOW!!!
Check Your Registration and Polling Place
Don't take a chance on losing your vote in November

Make sure you are registered to vote by the deadline in your state, and find out where you vote on election day. Many voters went to the polls in the primary election and discovered they weren't on the registration rolls. Don't let that happen to you.

The information in the table below was gathered from the state web sites and is provided as a convenience. Links on the state abbreviations take you to the state site where you can verify the information for yourself. We encourage you to do so.

We all need to make sure that we're on the books:

2. it's too late in most places. I was screaming and begging people to do this last month
when it still could be changed, but now's too late.

If you do find yourself purged, it should be your new responsiblity to personally take 3, no 5 voters (Obama voters only) to the polls on Election day to make sure that your mistake gets made up for.

3. I've already voted, but people should have done this a month ago.
Maybe someday all states will be like Wisconsin where you can register at the polls. In fact, where I live you could go down right now to the City Clerk's office, register to vote, and then cast your ballot right then and there.

Not to diminish the importance of the thread.. I'm registered, waiting on my mail in ballot (it shows it is being processed) and have also registed to be a poll judge on the November 4. Everyone please check, follow-up, push the envelope to make sure your vote is cast and counted!

6. ALSO check at voteforchange.com and your State BOE - you can google and find ...
...the website of your state's BOE office. Usually there is an option to check your voter registration online. If you can't do it online, CALL them.

13. There is a safety net in the form of One-Stop Voting where you can register & vote

on the same day. Check your state and county's Board of Elections.

In North Carolina:

How to Register and Vote at a One-Stop Absentee Site

A North Carolina resident who is qualified to register to vote may register In-Person and vote at a One-Stop Site in the person's county of residence during the One-Stop Absentee Voting period. The One-Stop Voting period extends from 19 to 3 days before Election Day.

The process is sometimes referred to as “In-Person Registration,” but it is important to recognize that it not permitted on Election Day itself.

To use this process, a citizen must (1) go to a One-Stop Voting Site in the county of residence during the One Stop Absentee Voting period, (2) fill out a voter registration application, and (3) provide proof of residency by showing the elections official an appropriate form of identification with the citizen’s current name and current address. The new registrant may vote ONLY at a One-Stop Absentee Voting Site in the county of registration during One-Stop Absentee Voting period and not on Election Day.

Acceptable forms of identification include:

* A North Carolina driver’s license with current address
* A utility bill with name and current address
o A telephone or mobile phone bill
o An electric or gas bill
o A cable television bill
o A water or sewage bill
* A document with name and current address from a local, state, or U.S. government agency, such as:
o A passport
o A government-issued photo ID
o U.S. military ID
o A license to hunt, fish, own a gun, etc.
o A property or other tax bill
o Automotive or vehicle registration
o Certified documentation of naturalization
o A public housing or Social Service Agency document
o A check, invoice, or letter from a government agency
o A birth certificate
* A student photo ID along with a document from the school showing the student’s name and current address
* A paycheck or paycheck stub from an employer or a W-2 statement
* A bank statement or bank-issued credit card statement

If you cannot supply an acceptable form of identification for Proof-of-Residence, your registration application cannot be fully processed until the required information is provided.

Registered voters may also update their address and change vital information in an existing registration record at the One-Stop Site, but they are not allowed to change their party affiliation during the One-Stop Voting period that precedes a partisan primary.

We know a couple people who qualify for One-Stop voting and missed the registration deadline. We'll be taking them with us when we go and vote next week.

14. I'm on it and I just changed my address.
I was worried about that, but someone did their job, and I'm registered in my new location.
