Oh dear God, Bush is going to speak again.
"Bush to give pep talk to anxious country Friday

White House officials said Bush didn't intend to put forward any new policy actions. The president was delivering his address at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters across from the White House."

Hey shitstain, if you really want to give us a pep talk, say you're resigning on November 5th.

1. No one listens to him anymore anyway.
They're just going to slink away to count their blood money come January.

Mission Accomplished indeed.

5. Yeah, a pep talk is what we need
Obviously we've all just got the wrong attitude about losing our jobs, homes and pensions, being unable to pay our bills and mortgage, fuel our cars, afford health care and put food on our kids.

We're such whiners. :eyes:

16. I swear, my first thought was "Bush must be short selling!"
They're going to start calling him THE RALLY KILLER.

It's like he has to remind people that he's still in charge, so remember, nothing is going to get fixed for at least three more months.

13. Because everyone knows, no one can pep up people's spirits like George W. Bush.
Really, the only way he could pep anyone up is to announce:

"Senator McCain and I have had a private conversation, and we've come to the conclusion that Senator Obama is going to win this election, and that pretending anything else is pretty much postponing the inevitable. So we'd like to announce that the senator is ending his campaign, and I'm resigning as of today. We've also proposed a constitutional amendment for emergency ratification that will permit Senator Obama to take over the presidency now instead of having to wait until January 20. As soon as it's ratified by enough states in special legislative sessions this afternoon, it will go into effect. Goodbye, and God bless America."

17. Advance Copy of Speech
My fellow Americans,

Like you I've been watching with some great interest as the stock market oscillipulates wildly up and down and then back down again. Not only interest, but some pertubation and discomfort as well. These are tough times, but as Americans we know that these are our tough times and we can take it. In the previous century that came before this one, when America faced tough times the government wasn't always there to make a handout, and that wasn't always a bad thing. Sometimes people have to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Sometimes they have to pull themselves up by their stockbroker's bootstraps, as well. (CHUCKLE BRIEFLY HERE).

If I was an "Activist" President I'd be here today to announce a program that would probably be inefficient at addressing the problem and wouldn't work anyway. Thankfully I'm not an "Activist" President... I believe in a strict Constitution, line-item veto, leave things up to the states, let's not regulate ourselves into a mess we can't fix.

As I was saying, these are tough times but I know we can do it. What Americans need to do is pull together, and keep shopping. Everyone's got to eat, so when you buy groceries those people get paid, and then they can buy gasoline, and the guy who pumps gas gets paid and he hires you to mow his lawn or something like that. That's how an economy works. You've just got to wait for the guy down at the gas station to recycle the money you spent at the grocery back to you. It'll come soon enough. I'm strongly in favor of recycling money. I like to call it "Economic Environmentalism."

So, I leave you with this thought: Keep eating. Keep Your Chin Up. God Bless America.

Thank you.

19. Kind of an aside,
but that is weirdest use of tense I've seen in a while. This is supposed to happen in the future, but they say "The president was delivering his address...". And from another part, "President Bush on Friday was to give the nation a more detailed explanation of what the government is doing..."

It makes it sound like he intended to, but isn't actually going to do it. Just odd.
