Parole board commissioner Chris Ortloff arrested in child sex sting

ALBANY - A tough-on-crime state parole board commissioner faces up to life in prison after trying to set up a sexual liaison with two young sisters, authorities said Tuesday. Chris Ortloff, 61, was arrested in an Albany-area hotel late Monday by federal officials who found condoms, lubricant, vibrators and a camera in his room.

The former 20-year Assembly Republican thought he was going to be meeting a 12-year-old girl and her 11-year-old sister who were to be dropped off by a parent, Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Spina said.

As an assembly member representing the state's most northern district, Ortloff rose to the ranks of assistant minority leader and often called for stronger criminal justice laws, particularly for crimes against children.

He has been "temporarily relieved of his ... duties," a parole board spokesman said.

Giordano was convicted in March of violating the civil rights of the two girls by forcing them to have oral sex with him in City Hall, his law office, home, and elsewhere. The girls were ages 8 and 10 at the time. He also was convicted of conspiring with a prostitute who is the mother of one girl and aunt of the other, and with using an interstate device, a cell phone, to arrange the liaisons. ``Your conduct is the worst I have ever seen. I've seen drug dealers, murderers. What you did is indescribable,'' U.S. District Judge Alan Nevas told the former Republican mayor in announcing the sentence. ``You, sir, are a sexual predator.'' Giordano did not speak during the sentencing hearing. He could have faced a life sentence under federal guidelines, but the judge chose a lesser sentence based on Giordano's cooperation in a federal investigation of political corruption in Waterbury. Even prisoners have kids, and they don't like the thought of deviants like these two possibly getting their hands on their kids.

Great family values. I'm so glad that the age of being lectured to by these hypocrites is almost over.

They dare tell us they are "pro-life"? Being raped and molested is one of the most devastating things that can happen to a child. Their trust in adults and the world at large is destroyed -- and future intimate relationships are very difficult for them often. I saw just a tiny bit of this working at a shelter and it isn't something I would wish on my worst enemy.

I hope this guy burns in hell.
