Question about vasectomies

or

1. I've had that procedure done.
You're awake when it's peformed. Believe me, had I seen the surgeon coming at me with a hatchet, my balls would have been out the door before he made the first cut. :D

4. I know...
I've been trying to find a Dr. who will give me a general anesthesia. I don't want to watch...I want to go to sleep and wake up sterile with an ice pack on my crotch, a plate of nachos and a cold drink on a tray and hockey on the TV.

8. I had it done too and almost napped during it
If the doc hadn't been telling funny stories, I would have nodded off. I also fell asleep during two root canals.

9. You'd have to be some kind of freaky acrobat to actually be able to "watch".
You're lying on your back.

But it helps if you like the smell of toast.

18. Actually, I sat on the edge of the table during mine.
Watched the entire thing--the initial injections were a bit uncomfortable but the most painful thing of the whole procedure was getting nicked while shaving.

3. They're going to have to cut you eventually
So pick which tool they use for that.

ps: Anesthesia really isn't necessary for vasectomies and just creates that potential for additional complications.

6. I did my own with a Dremmel and some duct tape.
Hurt like a motherfucker and my scrotum now looks like a fist-sized ball of ground beaver meat... but I saved the $20.00 insurance co-pay.

Why do you ask?

12. LOLOL!!! My SO knows I'm a big duct tape fan and come up with...
creative uses. I'm going to suggest this approach to him, since I'm tempted to take the hatchet to him if he won't get fixed (it's much less expensive and less down time than me geting fixed, btw...neither of us has insurance).

Dremmel and duct tape

11. I hardly felt a thing, BUT
I now have to give myself testosterone shots. Lost almost all of my libido shortly afterward. Then the wife divorced me anyway. I would not get one, knowing what I know now. My case may be rare, so good luck.

14. are chainsaws an option?

because at least with a hatchet it would be a relatively clean cut, mcinsanes plan would be a chainsaw, letting little pieces of me fly all over the place.

on a related topic. I got into a battle of "wits" with a right wing guy one time regarding abortion. he gave the usual diatribe.

I responded, "okay, so suppose the government made it law that you as a male, have to get a vasectomy at the age of 22, would you go with that?"

And the clod responded, "no, of course not!"

and I smiled at the complete dope and said, "well then, now you know how a woman feels. having no choice sucks doesn't it".

He told me to fuck off and walked away. I was laughing.

21. Could just use a rubberband....
I watched a testicle removal once on the hospital's in-house surgery channel - I cringed the entire time.

23.  rubber bands (banding) are used on calves, etc. to castrate them
I know a vasectomy isn't castration...but I was keeping with the hatchet choice theme...extremes and all that.

The point of the testicle removal story is that I would cringe regardless...scapel or hatchet (for a vasectomy)

I will admit that to clip or not and how isn't a consideration for me :)
