this is what they were warning us about, the barbarians, louts, thugs, yahoos, and rank and file pinheads who will unerringly do the wrong thing every time because they're simply not wired correctly.

It's not always parenting, either. I know great parents who have produced one lout in the litter and louts who have produced offspring who can and do think.

I don't happen to think they outnumber us, but once in a while they do take over, usually when the rest of us are exasperated enough by events to give them a shot because a sensible course of action doesn't seem to be working well. This is such a period in our history. It's happened before and will happen again, but for now it's almost over.

Remember, if louts were always in charge, we'd still be squatting under trees in Africa and communicating by slaps and grunts.

Sorry to broad stroke like that, but in my experience, watching teenage members in my family who are EXACTLY like the "punch me in the face" girl, they absolutely don't think about consequences.

And, here's another broad stroke comment, I'm mainly seeing this mentality very specifically in cheerleaders. I was never a cheerleader hater, and I'm trying not to be now, but damn...it's pretty pervasive! I'll shut up now before going on the drug/sex rant with regard to that group.

It's one thing for teenagers and others to be stupid, but more and more their stupidity is harming others. It's no longer only the teenage drinking and driving harming innocent people, it's intentional acts of violence. A gang and mob mentality (white gangs, black gangs, Hispanics, etc.).

And it's the parents who DO think like these kids who are decrying Obama as "the change that will take down this country!" I know, I know...it's all about him being black and having that scary name, but they say the same thing about "liberals" even before he was on the scene.

12. This crowd in the military? No way!

They'd have to get up at the same time every day, present a clean an organized appearance and living area, and not talk back to authority. The para military is as far as they'll get.

I share your revulsion. It's more at the type of parents who allow this nonsense.

As for the torture and pics, we're responsible for our direct actions, but I'll bet every one of those torture episodes was authorized and that the pics weren't for the 20 somethings who did the torture. Somebody else got them for some very strange reason.
