There have to be aliens somewhere. And it's sadly not difficult to imagine beings who are further along than we are. And it would be sad if there were absolutely no other life forms in the rest of this amazingly enormous universe, across all time. THAT sounds more unlikely than "there are other life forms somewhere". Shrug.
