1. I'm an equal opportunity demonizer...
It's just that I'm surrounded by fundagelical Christians here in the Bible belt so those are the ones who catch my attention the most.

I'm sure if I lived in Saudi Arabia, I'd find fundie Muslims to be a bigger problem.

5. It's here all right. People are so fed up with the religious wingnuts that sometimes they forget...
... to make the distinction between wingnuts and the rest of Christendom when on a rant. The Talibornagains are so loud in the public square that it is easy to forget that there are many Christians who are Democrats/Progressives/Liberals.

Personally, I try to respect all religious points of view, as long as they stay out of my life and my Constitution, leaving me to my own conscience.

That said, Christians (whether active or passive) are the vast majority of the population in the US, so fundy claims of "persecution" are specious at best.

Every other form of belief is in a clear minority, so when Muslims -- or Jews -- or Pagans -- or Atheists -- find themselves the targets of public scapegoating and demonization, alarm bells should go off in all our heads, just as it does when LGBT persons are scapegoated and demonized. They are just so outnumbered.

8. I think I've Missed It Because I don't equate Calvinism with
Christianity. Most of what I've seen here involves calling out bad behavior from people who behave in an "un-Christian like" manner (regardless of what they may call themselves). I just do not consider violent cultists Christians simply because they have adopted the title, to do so would render the term "Christian" meaningless and would be an insult to the gentle Christians I have known and worked with.

I shall read more carefully to see if I find Christians (those that follow the teachings of Christ) being demonized. If so I will be very disappointed. As one who has to fear being literally set on fire by cultists such as Palin/Muthee or any others with views similar to those that were held during "the burning times" I am not overly concerned about hurting the feelings of such violent cultists, but neither will I condone or stand quietly by as the match is taken either verbally or literally to Christians that believe the teachings of a HP who gave us the sermon on the mount. (these people are part of the solution and not the problem.)

I imagine from your post as well as your Screen Name that you can understand my feelings on this.
I will read more closely as I've said, and yes I am very disappointed that such blanket faith bashing is said to be here.

14. I'm sorry, but most Christians deserve to be demonized
It's not just "extremists", it's the vast majority of Christians who hold these insane views. They're preaching politics from the pulpit, encouraging hatred of gays, liberals, Muslims, pro-choice voters, you name it. When I was a Catholic, I used to go to mass, and there was none of this political shit and hatred. Today, things are so different....

And I personally have yet to meet a Christian who isn't inherently evil in some way. We had a neighboring family who seemed like the exception to my theory, giving me hope...but then it turned out that they were abusing their foster child. The ones who sing the loudest in church are the ones doing the worst shit at home.

If there are Christians here who are not like that, I salute you, and wish I could meet you. But please realize that you are in a very, very small and rapidly shrinking minority. :(

17. Most Calvinists Perhaps - however many are good . You ...
..just haven't met many I gather, check out this site to better understand the true teachings of their Christ http://www.liberalslikechrist.org/ the fundy morans are not real Christians(followers of Christ's teachings) they simply scream that they are the loudest, while claiming no one else is.

IMHO as a pagan with many friends from many faiths. ;-)

3. That's probably because it's personal.
A lot of people had that particular religion shoved down their throats growing up.
