http://www.imdb.com/chart/

I mean I know you all got tickets to go see American Carol but that damn 'librul media' is trying to suppress how well the movie is doing and probably swapped your ticket for Beverly Hills Ratdog or something like that.

No way American Carol could have dropped out of the top #10 like that, just no fucking way!!!

:sarcasm:

oh and

2. Some right-wingers are actually blaming "ticket fraud" for American Carol's flop.....
..... Naturally it has nothing to do with a shitty film. :)

3. Yep, and they have some form you can fill out if you saw the movie but got the wrong ticket
at $10 a ticket that would mean some 500k-2mil people were defrauded last week just to keep the movie out of the top #5

15. yes
somehow movie theaters across the country can all create fraud, but two partisan companies in an election can't.

I say to them: get over it. And learn how to make a joke.

18. I used to manage a theatre and there's no freaking way
that you could do that. Besides the problems with the fire marshall if they came in and you had a sold out theatre that was empty and the butts were in the seats in a different auditorium? Who the hell has the time to remember to switch tix when you've got a line out the door, some teenaged idiot just burned a big load of popcorn and is stinking up the place, an auditorium got out and you hear someone puked and it needs steam cleaned before the line of people can get in for the next showing and you just found out the film broke on projecter #12?

Sure, I had plenty of time to participate in a conspiracy to piss of rich Republican folks. All for my management salary of $6 an hour. Right.

7. Proof that Satan walks amongst us
the fact that that silly Chihuahua movie has topped the box office for 2 weeks now. Why would anyone see that movie - I think the producers sold their soul to Satan.

16. And then there's that "Fireproof" thing that's supposed to be . . .
Such a hit, except that my friends in the States (who have actually been looking for the thing) can't find it anywhere.

Hey, I'm the first to admit that the majority of highly successful movies are successful because they appeal not to the better angels of our nature, but the bitter devils. And as the father of young teenagers, I have issues about the cultural content they're exposed to.

But I'm more concerned about them being exposed to IQ-lowering drivel than to a flash of tit or a bit too much violence.

And I do insist that my comedies actually be funny, or I'll walk out.

First rule of filmmaking: If you have an axe to grind, make a documentary. If you have a genuine viewpoint through which you envision your film -- and that viewpoint happens to be "conservative" -- you might still have a good movie on your hands. But if you start off saying "I want to foster traditional values and this is the story I'm going to use to do so," you -- and your audience -- are doomed.

Case in point: Chronicles of Narna vs the Lord of the Rings. (Acknowledging that they're both adaptations, but the comparison, IMO, still holds.)

17. This is too rich
Is it FINALLY apparent to them that their viewpoints are NOT the majority opinions? No matter how hard the "MSM" tries to prop up THAT ideal?

19. Their uncanny ability to come up with a preposterous self-comforting lie,
when confronted with a painful reality, sort of explains how that movie got made in the first place.
