Man kills self after accidentally shooting brother

CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago police say they are investigating the apparent suicide of a 28-year-old man who reportedly shot himself after accidentally shooting his 18-year-old brother in the head.

Police said in a statement early Monday that Brandon Thomas and his brother were walking on West 71st St. about midnight when Thomas attempted to shoot a dog. The bullet struck the brother instead.

5. I'm reminded of the guy in Va. Beach who kills his mother-in-law with a hatchet in the tool shed
he SWORE he thought she was a racoon

Most racoons don't say "Oh god no please stop!!"

4. Gee, if I didn't know better, I'd think someone shot both brothers and then made up a story.

6. Based on the article... how did they figure out they were attempting to shoot a dog?
They didn't say if the brother that shot himself made the statement.
Or the brother in intensive care made the statement.

10. The shooter could have told the cops that before he capped himself I suppose
Perhaps him shooting his brother wasn't an accident. He did try to flee.

11. Mike Royko Would Have Loved This One...
Every year he'd write a column about some of the saddest and most stupid shooting incidents. Many were of some poor schumck waking up at 3am, seeing something at the edge of his bed and shooting his nuts off.
