EXPLANATION of Palin's connection to the AIP and "witch hunters" in Alaska
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 11:32 PM by Leopolds Ghost
AIP and Witch-hunters are two "associations" Sarah
Palin and her husband have had for years in Alaska.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eniG9l_7its

AIP (Alaskan Independence Party) is a Christian Secessionist movement
which Palin was informally associated with (and her husband was a
card-carrying member of) for years since the 1970s.

AOG (Assemblies of God) is a Pentecostal sect that believes in witchcraft.
"witch hunters" (once known as "witch doctors" in medieval Europe/Africa)
are a specialty of these Pentecostal sects. In Alaska, they are associated
with the Christian secessionist/Dominionist movement, as is the AIP.

Palin's Assemblies of God churches in Alaska are Dominionists that support
the AIP and believe Alaska must secede from the Union to become a Christian
theocracy and a refuge from Armageddon. Palin's pastor has recently
proclaimed this.

The founder of AIP said that "the fires of hell are like frozen glaciers compared
to my hatred for the American government, and I won't be buried under their Damn Flag."

In 1991, around the time Todd officially became a member.

In 2007, AIP's vice chairman said that Sarah Palin was AIP's
preferred candidate for governor and said she represented the
model for AIP candidates: "You infiltrate... (like) the
Christian independence movement, the free state movement...
stick a Republican label on it."

Around the same time, newly-elected Gov. Palin addressed the
AIP national convention, telling them "keep up the good work."

It's all in this video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eniG9l_7its

The Witch-hunter story is better explained in the following two DU threads,
and in the following video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl4HIc-yfgM

Palin linked to yet another fundie witch hunting "Prayer Warrior" (and AIP supporter)

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

Palin Watched Video of Muthee Witch Hunt Before Taking Stage To Pray With Muthee

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

Basically "witch hunters" are Evangelical witch doctors
(literally) who go from town to town (like in Africa or medieval Europe) blaming
witches for the ailments afflicting people in their congregation. Palin has
personally associated with and asked for the blessing of TWO such people.

One of them was an AIP supporter/activist. The other was an African Evangelical
priest who was responsible for a riot in Kenya where a suspected witch was nearly
stoned and her pet snake was killed by hysterical populace. The latter priest
blessed Palin at the start of her political campaign, calling on God to give her
success in politics, as we see in the vid.

from a 1999 Christian Science Monitor article: http://www.csmonitor.com/1999/0923/p15s1.html

"According to accounts of the witchhunt circulated on evangelical websites such as Prayer Links Ministries, after Pastor Muthee declared Mama Jane a witch, the townspeople became suspicious and began to turn on her, demanding that she be stoned . . . Public outrage eventually led the police to raid her home, where they fired gunshots, killing a pet python which they believed to be a demon."

Palin begins her political campaign with blessing from Assemblies of God (AOG) Pastor Muthee:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl4HIc-yfgM

Pastor Muthee, who caused the riot in Kenya, advocates Palin "infiltrating" the society
exactly as the AIP co-chairman did in the other video above, to establish "economic and
political dominion of the righteous, in government, in banks" and drive out witchcraft.

8. Why do so few people on the DU seem to care about this?
The poll I posted here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4220973
says they DON'T want Obama to address it, they want surrogates / bloggers to hammer Palin on it
using 527s and internet chatter. So where's the internet chatter? All the discussion on this
has been on Youtube -- that's fairly sad. One person here even criticized me the first time I
brought this up saying the AIP allegations "could not be proven" and therefore "could not be used"
and we had "better things to attack with anyway" and of course "Obama needs to stay positive".

Not for tactical reasons, of course, but for the same reasons DUers (who now criticise Kerry)
claim he should have stayed positive in the face of the swift boat attacks.

6. I'm having trouble googling ANYTHING "AIP" on DU -- there are 10x as many threads on YOUTUBE
as there are here. DU is losing its edge?

The best compilation vid addressing the AIP issue is the one in the OP:

The Muthee video (this is the guy who tried to get a woman stoned in Kenya)
adressing Palin's congregation is chilling:

22. Google Palin's supporters' names
http://firedoglake.com/2008/09/22/sarah-palins-wasilla-base-a-unhealthy-dose-of-far-right-extremism/

According to Stein, Palin's main base of support in that election (and subsequent Wasilla campaigns) was derived from her fellow congregants at Wasilla Bible Church and the larger evangelical Christian community. But it also included some of the Mat-Su Valley's biggest far-right nutcases -- to the extent that she even attempted to reciprocate by appointing one of them to the city's planning commission.

The connection revolves mostly around three men known to have far-right leanings in the community: a builder named Steven Stoll, a computer repairman named Mark Chryson, and a third man named Mike Christ. All three subscribed to a bellicose, "Patriot" movement brand of politics -- far-right libertarianism with a John Birch streak.

13. They are Theonomists. They believe in a battle on eartth followed by 1,000 years of theocracy
before the Rapture and/or Second Coming can occur.

AKA Dominionism or Regent Theocracy (They feel Fundamentalist leaders must be appointed "regent" for God on Earth)

They believe in a literal (possibly nuclear) Armageddon -- hence their obsession with Iran
(and with finding a safe place to live.) This is necessary in their eyes to usher in the 1,000 year Regency period.

To be fair, I am one of those leftie christians who think our society is probably doomed --
but I don't go around rooting for it to happen.

14. Good summation of Palin's Fundie Connection (Youtube Text Commentary)
Palin attended Wasilla Assembly of God Church for roughly two and a half decades.

We have now got the video of Sarah Palin being anointed in a ceremony during which
her church was actively campaigning for her - an illegal move in its own right.
The man doing the anointing was Thomas Muthee - who actually prayed that Sarah Palin
be protected from witchcraft, and said that electing Sarah Palin would help keep
witchcraft out of schools, and help right wing Christians invade and infiltrate the
government. Throughout all this and more, Sarah Palin watched approvingly - and the
video shows her accepting the holy protection from Alaska witches without even flinching once.

+++

Background information: Bishop Muthee ran a poor single mother out of town in Kenya.
He got the townspeople so crazed up over a apparently "bewitched" woman that they
ended up chasing her around town and even broke into her house and took shots at her.
She is lucky to have gotten away alive and lucky that her children were not hurt or killed.
And he is proud to say he chased the devil away from their town. This is absolute madness!

Therefore, Sarah Palin has been anointed by an outspoken and dangerous witch hunter.
Where is the outrage in the MSM about this fact?

+++

More info about the "Wasilla Assembly of God":

During that time Wasilla Assembly of God joined an Insurgent theological movement,
initially arising with Pentecostalism, which was denounced in 1949, by the General
Council of the Assemblies of God, as heretical.

Known as the Third Wave, this movement sees the earth largely under the influence of demon powers.

"Third Wave" believers seek to map out areas of "demonic influence" and drive out demon powers
with prayer - from cities, towns and even entire geographic areas.

They also fight what they feel to be rampant human witchcraft.

The Wasilla Assembly of God and its Masters Commission Program enjoy a close relationship
with a key Third Wave center, Rick Joyner's Morningstar Ministries.

Wasilla Assembly of God both endorses Rick Joyner's books and and also includes
author Joyner's works closely within its Masters Commission curriculum.

Palin's Pastor also endorses the concept of Alaska as "a refuge in the end times."

Key Morningstar leaders, and other prominent Third Wave figures, frequently visit
the Wasilla Assembly of God.

15. This is a letter I have wrote originally to A. Cooper but he leans so
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 12:57 AM by Dems4me
right I don't know if he is the one to send it to or not, so I haven't sent
it out at all- yet. Over look the type-os it's not really fully ready yet.

Mr. Cooper,

CNN aired your investigative report on Senator Obama’s casual acquaintance with Mr. Ayers which
mounts to nothing.

When are you going to follow up with an investigative report into the Palin’s membership and associations with the notorious extremeist group AIP? In this letter I will not mention the many questionable associations of Mr. McCain.

As I am sure you must recall that this group would like very much to break away from the United States
Of America and form it’s own country. It seems to have much dislike for it’s parent country and it’s system of government. AIP is known for it’s belief that the 1959 induction of the state into the union was illegal and a violation of the United Nations Charter and International law. AIP’s charter commit’s the party to “the ultimate independence of Alaska.”

Please refer to a post written by Mr. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the Huffington Post. Reliable information is scattered out in various places via the net. Some sources for the context of this letter will be footnoted as
they are also sources for my personal views and perceptions on these issues but not all.

In 2008 Mrs. Palin was said to have sent her greeting to the AIP convention. In 2006 She gave the Keynote Address at the convention. She had again attended the AIP convention in 2000.

Former AIP member and founding father of the group, Joe Volger, went to congress in 1993 to say, radically, of their intentions to leave the Union. They preferred to leave peacefully but was very prepared to use arms and force if necessary. Mr. Volger had been known to repeatedly say hateful, inflammatory things about this country. I personally see such actions as signs of aggression possibly
even seen as treasonous. He was killed trying to obtain an illegal sale of plastic explosives.
As written in a report by Steven Benen, published by CBS News, Mr. Volger was known for his extremist
comment “I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions." Also saying "he fires of Hell are glaciers compared to my hate for the American government." He was also noted for saying President Franklin D. Roosevelt was a communist.

Mr. Volger went to congress in 1993 to spout his group’s visions and in 1994-1995 Mr. Todd Palin joined the group. Mr. Palin was a member of this group from about 1994 to 2002. In 2004 Mrs. Sarah Palin continued her acquaintances with this group even up to this year. In an ABC news interview
the current AIG Chairwomen went on record to say that both Sarah and Todd were members in 1994.

As an American, I regard Mrs. Palin’s actions as condoling of this groups philosophies and plainly outrageous that US Governor would have such close ties with a group that wants to break away from the government she works for. If Mr. McCain is elected she would become a US vice president and possibly the president one day. OUTRAGIOUS.

Mr. Palins membership in AIP I would regard as I would Mr Volgers, as acts of aggression and possibly
treasonous depending on what the acceptable definition of what treasonous is.

Mrs. Palin has been paid by U.S. tax dollars. She was sworn in under the laws of the United States of America. She has no business being in repeated association with any group, body or organization that says the hateful things this group has said regarding the United States.

Her continued associations with this group is outlandish and inconceivable.

The chair person of AIP, Lynnette Clark, still saying of Alaska, that “it should be an independent nation.”
Again, she also told ABC News that Sarah Palin and her husband were members in 1994, even attending the
1994 statewide convention in Wasilla. Clark was the AIP secretary at the time.

Thank You

Why sir have you not investigated and made public one of the most obviously disdainful associations
thus far?

16. More on AIP founder Volger, invited by Iran to speak at UN 1993 before killed selling explosives.
During the period when Todd Palin was officially an AIP member.

The guy who confessed to killing Volger wasn't a secessionist. He was buying explosives from Volger; Volger argued and the guy killed him and buried him in the woods. The guy would have gotten away with it except he had other trouble with the law. He was caught in a burning house, and confessed to the police on a cell phone. The guy thought he was going to die. However, the police found him alive by a chimney after the house collapsed.

Volger ran for governor in the 80's. In the debate, he acknowledged that he wanted to build a road down the Alaskan coast using nuclear devices to clear out the glaciers. His comment was that if you watched what way the wind blew, you wouldn't have any trouble.

Yes, you read that right, he was apparently invited to the debate by the media... and Barr / Nader wasn't in 2008.
