Folks have said for years that we aren't sacrificing for this war - well, here it is

If anyone thinks that the war in Iraq is not seriously contributing to the nation's financial and economic problems they are dead wrong. For years not the chant has been that the war has been invisible to us, that other than a relatively few family and friends of our fallen soldiers. Well, now we're all going to pay - and all those New Europe countries that didn't want to play either, well now they are going to pay too.
